  1. Hello! I also applied to bio anth programs and am very interested in fieldwork...may I ask where you applied and to where you were accepted/rejected?

  2. Okay. So I got the nicest rejection letter from my prospective advisor at WashU yesterday. It's nice to know that even if you don't get accepted somewhere it doesn't mean that they think you are an idiot So... While I haven't heard back from all my schools, I have decided that I will be attending UMass Amherst and I'm sooo excited!! Any one else going there too? I'm leaving the land of internet now for a week and I'm so happy that I won't have to fret about what is in my in-box!!! Good luck everyone!
  3. Sunshine- don't forget that at some schools you can transfer 30 plus of your MA credits toward your PhD. So you won't really be wasting time! oh, an "HUG"
  4. Thank you sooo much Zygomatic. I really hope so too. I think Sunshine is right, we all need to go out and meet up for coffee.
  5. THANKS Shelby!! I sent out an e-mail. Lets hope I hear back tomorrow! (I'm starting to think it will be bad news... but at least I'll know!)
  6. okay... I am officially going CRAZY. Who heard from WashU today who was a bioanth. Did you get the e-mail unsolicited or did you ask about your status? What is your sub-subfield in bioanth/ who was your prospective edvisor (if you don't mind me asking)? I am trying decifer what it means that I havn't heard anything at all, so your inside info will be extraordinarily helpful. As soon as I hear from them I can decide where I am going... so I am very anxious to recieve my news THANK YOU.
  7. Thanks for all your help!! I'll pass this info along!
  8. Two things 1) Any news on WUSTL???? 2) I am a TA at my current University and I have a lot of bioarch and forensic anth students in the classes I teach. They are currently asking me about universities to apply to for graduate school... and being a primatologist, I don't have the faintest ideas of any programs to recommend. So all you bioarch/forensic anth folks: Where did you apply? That way I can pass it on to my students Thanks a ton guys!!
  9. Oh I reaaaalllly hope that it's before. CONGRATS Tonights and Lizzle!!!!!!!!! That's awesome.
  10. I applied to WashU and also haven't heard back yet. What subfield are you?
  11. Hang in there guys! So... I am still waiting on two universities (One in particular). I received a letter from a university yesterday though telling me I had three choices 1) accept their offer and enroll by next week, 2) reject their offer, or 3) say that I am uncertain and have them hold my acceptance until April 15th. What I want to know is this: Do I e-mail the other universities and ask them about my status?? I don't want to bug my potential advisors or give them ANY reason to reject me. I don't want to make the university that actually wants me to wait forever for my decision. I'm also worried that if I delay my enrollment it may also hurt my chance for getting one of the limited funding slots. Am I being to paranoid? What would you do: e-mail my other prospective advisors OR wait and delay my decision until April? Help!
  12. Hi! Who got into Case's MA program? That was my undergrad school. If you have any questions feel free to let me know.
  13. j__4_g - Great! Good luck and fill me in! p.s. If you don't mind me asking... what are you and your SO's subfields?
  14. J_4_G - Well if they offer you an acceptance and you turn it down... feel free to put in a good word for me I really want to go there. My advisor went there and I have a couple other contacts that are either there or are alums. This is all my intel= During January they did all the first cuts as a department, starting Feb 1st they were sent out to the faculty and they are narrowing them down individually (My potential advisor has already sent out rejections to some other applicants i am friends with). The secretary told me that we'll hear by the end of march, but more likely AT the end of march. I was also told that they don't do fly in interviews (by an alumni- I think she's reliable), they just decide. So... hopefully at least half of that is reliable. At least we haven't been rejected yet!! Good Luck!
