  1. I'm off to my first visit weekend tomorrow and just realized that I have no idea what is appropriate to wear. Can I get away with jeans and a nice top, or should I be aiming for something nicer?
  2. FYI, I received a letter from Harvard in yesterday's mail.
  3. Thanks for the info, Cantorg!
  4. A question for those of you who applied to MIT chemistry--did you ever receive a confirmation of your completed application? On the apply web website, it says that the application data was "sent, received, and confirmed," but nothing about if my LORs, transcripts, scores, etc. made it. With every other school I can either track my status online, or they sent me an email confirming that my application was complete, so I'm a little worried.
  5. Yeah, the call was today; I was definitely surprised. The professor was from adcomm (neither Reisman nor Stoltz).
  6. Just got a call from a professor (not one on my SOP) at Caltech; I'm in. Again, I'm doing organometallic chemistry. The visiting dates for University of Chicago are Feb. 24 - Feb. 26 and Mar. 10 - Mar. 12.
  7. I'm applying for organometallics, and the only schools I've heard back from thus far are Northwestern and University of Chicago. Admittedly, this forum is making me a little nervous with regards to MIT and Caltech, but it appears that most everyone who's been accepted is doing organic synthesis, so may I just need to be patient. Easier said than done. Besides, I think MIT does a second round of admissions in mid-Feb. A friend of mine who does pchem was accepted at that time last year.
