  1. Congrats sldm!!!!
  2. Based on what? Is it over?
  3. That's very good advice, it also makes sense why I have seen very different answers when searching this forum for similar threads (when to quit work). Most people who left at my company gave a 10 day to 2 weeks notice. Maybe I should go for 3 weeks.
  4. Starting grad school (Master's only) late August.
  5. There are a lot of already discussed threads about this but it seems like they all drift off in to other issues. So here is my situation, I need to eventually go back home and get my paperwork (visa, etc..) done. My proposed plan is to give a one month notice on April 1st and then spend May relocating to the other state. That will give me 2-2.5 months of chilling back home. I work as a software engineering at a large company in CA. Is a one month notice too early (or too late)? Would it hurt me in the future if I apply to PhD or another job that they see almost a 3 month gap of no productivity? Thanks
  6. If you are applying to the PhD program then your chances are very low but not nil. I found another thread in some other grad forum that has a pretty accurate description of the timeline in previous years. Historically decisions have been sent around the second week of March for Master's. As for PhD, acceptance decisions were sent around February (which makes sense given their early date for an open house). Not sure if I am allowed to post a link to that thread on here.
  7. They are still sending out rejections since yesterday. Not trying to defecate on your day but good luck at UC Davis or Washington.
  8. I think the open house might be specifically for PhD.. Anyone applied for master's? Can someone call and ask when all the decisions will be mailed? From their Engineering website: March Open house for admitted students April Decision letters mailed Isn't April too late?
  9. You all have absolutely no idea how happy I am when I received the rejection. The wait was ruining my weekends, social life, etc.. Finally a decision! Now I can move on. Just called a few friends, gonna celebrate my rejection tonight. Good luck to you all!
  10. It seems, from the trend in results page, they will make the decisions in the next 10 days. I would expect something in 1-3 weeks (given they mail the decision)
  11. Anyone call them up to see when all decisions are out?
  12. Whatever- rejects, waitlist, acceptance.. anything to put this post to rest so we can all move on.
  13. Well, statistically speaking if one gets into Berkeley one probably got into other great engineering schools (Stanford/MIT/Caltech/etc..) and received awesome funding opportunities from other schools as well. So candidates are still deciding (it is not April 15th already after all).. They do not want to reject everyone and then end up with fewer people attending than spots available. Chances are however those candidates will most likely go for Berkeley. It does make sense that each year might differ by a week or two. Numbers are precise but not accurate, however I would say our chances are very low... I would also not be shocked if one of you on this post gets admitted this upcoming week. Let us give them a call tomorrow and see where we stand.
  14. Let's not split hairs, I think a call is overdue. I am very hopeful that we will receive a decision this week (however may be our chances of acceptance)
  15. I am pretty sure of what school to attend. In addition, I cannot attend any visiting days due to work.. How do I mention politely that I will not be visiting? Would it negatively affect me? Especially that the department is small in size and they do not accept a lot of people Thanks
  16. Much obliged, kind sir.
  17. It's not about hope for me anymore, it's about closure. Send me the rejection, let me move on and focus on other offers. I have better things to do than fret over a <1% chance.
  18. Could someone please call them up? They said all decisions will be out this week.
  19. I was at work, when at 11;30am I received an email to check the website for the decision. I stood up and left work without talking to my manager. I did not care at all about the consequences. Spent the next 3 hrs calling up friends on the phone.
  20. LOL @ latest berkeley eecs result.. I've never seen someone so angry about waitlist.. and right below that: "Finally got a reject email :-)" thank you berkeley for the great strategy to make us actually enjoy a rejection.. who knows, maybe i will receive a decision after i start and complete my PhD
  21. If they just waitlisted someone is it safe to assume all acceptances are out?
  22. I think it's over for berkeley... This is a post from a professor at Berkeley:
