Sorry about your top choice but you've got some great admits! I'm still waiting to hear from six of my eight programs (2 rejections) so you should be pleased...it could be worse!
-
Thanks Gradster, good advice! Will you do me a favor and see if someone named PoliSci Guy was accepted? Oops...secret's out! Yes that's my real name. My parents didn't like me very much.

Thanks, everyone! May we all get into our #1's

Ohmygod!Ohmygod!Ohmygod! I've been rejected by Yale and Emory so far so I'm nervous about Columbia. BUT, I know that of all of the schools I've applied to Columbia is a PERFECT fit for my research interests. I just hope they agree!!! Edit: Please forgive the shrieking nature of the beginning of my post and the unforgivable use of caps. I'm just very nervous/excited about Columbia.

Yikes! Your "little file"? That's rough. I'm about to call the University of Washington. The fact that my status changed last week and I still haven't heard anything merits (I believe) an inquiry.
-
Protocol question: Is it really that bad to call a school and check on the process???
-
Mormegil...sent you a PM
-
I'm really sorry to hear that, mormegil...FYI, I'm waiting on Emory too so your post has raised my heart rate to about 130.

lol!

Me too! Hard to believe

Hey, thanks Plisar! Aside from my Yale rejection there are two schools that I've applied to (Emory and WashU) that have made a few notifications but still "nothing official." Now it seems that I have achieved a heightened state of limbo; not only have I not heard from 7 of my 8 programs I know that two of them have pretty much, kinda sorta, stared making up their minds. I say forget Gitmo...convince suspected terrorists to go to grad school and interview them during early - mid February.

Hey guys and girls, sorry to interrupt all of the UPenn excitement (and congrats to all who got in!!!) but what's the deal with Washington - Seattle? Have the acceptances gone out or were those just a select few people to receive phone calls? This is all very unclear... Any insights?

No, we're just catatonic from the stress. I can't believe Washington actually updated my status to (basically) "We'll let you know." Crap! What does that mean?!?
-
To those who were accepted into U. of Washington: What does your online application status say? Mine used to say that they're received all materials and now it says "You will receive notification of acceptance or denial by email or postal mail." I have no idea what this means or if it's even new (maybe I just haven't noticed it). Thoughts?

Wow! All these results being posted and I've still heard only from (rejected) Yale! It's maddening that I still have 7 programs left to hear from and some of them (WashU and Emory) have already issued some notifications. Just to share with the group... IR, 4.0 undergrad, 600V/720Q, trilingual, one publication, 2 research projects, 5 years military service (overseas assignments and combat experience)... Sorry for the rant but I'm going nuts and need to share with a group that can relate with what I'm going through...
-
Oh boy! Looks like someone got into Washington (Seattle)... Anyone want to own up to it? Stats, etc? That's one of the programs that I am very interested in! Congrats, whoever you are!
-
Great! Thanks for the heads up!
-
OK, since the standard that we use to predict upcoming notifications is REM sleep...I'm happy to announce that we'll be hearing from U. Washington today and Georgetown last week! Yay! Oddly enough, in my dream I wasn't happy that I got into Georgetown but THRILLED about UW.
-
Yep, you're right...Feb 14th...I guess I missed that one :?
-
Oh yeah, one other thing. I keep hearing that U. Washington might be notifying this week but the past results don't indicate we'll be hearing anything for at least two weeks...right?
-
Doctorwho, check out this thread: http://www.poliscijobrumors.com/topic.p ... 166&page=2 There's an interesting (and hope-inspiring) comment by a faculty member about applicants with children... The question is...did I mention to the adcoms that I've got a kid? Hmmmm... Good luck to you!
-
I say get it over with. I'm an undergrad now with a wife and kid so if I'm not headed for grad school then I need to get crackin' on plan B and get a real job!
-
I know it was busy...I'm just complaining because I haven't heard back from any of my schools yet...
-
Didn't someone say that last week???
