  1. Congrats everyone for their acceptances! I am also waiting to hear back about Clarendon and Weidenfeld! Hopefully, the decisions should be out soon!
  2. Yup, I think it was very wise of you to ask them for additional money. I did the same when I got offers for my undergraduate study, and I was offered additional money. I'd also consider which program takes lesser time to complete and then reevaluate the funding packages from both schools. I am super excited for flying to Cincinnati next week for my recruitment visit as well; I am sure we'd have a lot to share about our schools once we've been there and talked to the faculty in person!!
  3. That's a good idea; keep us updated when you hear anything from them. What school are you leaning most toward as of now? I know Indiana has the Kinsey Institute, which was probably the main reason I was considering applying there, but I ended up against it. Are you excited about the recruitment visit?!!
  4. For me, it is extremely important that I have supportive mentors in the department and that the university has excellent resources to offer in order for me to grow in the community. Although I'd like to factor in location to my decision, I don't think it is that important for me; if I find the right fit halfway across the world in the middle of nowhere, I am going to make sure I get there.
  5. The 104 applicants were for both MA and PhD students since they usually only admit 2-3 PhD students every year. I am pretty sure the 7 they admitted were MA+PhD students since they mentioned those were the total number of students joining their department in fall of 2011. Good luck on moving up the waitlist!
  6. Congrats on the two offers so far, morthia! Will the University of Kansas program take only three years for the doctoral, assuming they accepted your master's credits?
  7. Hey everyone, sorry I just came online to this site after such a long time; I've been really sick and am slowly approaching recovery. The only update I have as of now is that Ohio State rejected me, and they even got the spelling of my name wrong on the departmental rejection letter. However, the letter from the graduate school had my name right. Anyways, that was the only PhD program I had applied to. Right now, I am still waiting to hear from the European program about the application results although I am pretty content on the outcome of my applications at other schools. And congratulations to everyone who have heard back positive news, and good luck to those still waiting! The incoming classes everywhere are looking to be wonderful, and I hope everyone finds success at their dream schools.
  8. WOW!! Congratulations coffeem8!! Way to go!
  9. And to add to that, if winter comes, can spring be far behind? Here's wishing luck to all of us!
  10. The graduate schools should not keep us waiting any longer...we need all the decisions NOW!!
  11. Yup, I noticed on the survey page that two people were accepted via phone into the OSU's program. I am still waiting to hear from them...
  12. Yup I was just going to update my list; it's about time... and coffeem8: Congrats on the UCLA offer!! That sure is a dream come true!
  13. Congrats to everyone who have got admissions and funding offers! We're all turning out to be a great group of academic feminists, aren't we?!! Good luck to all of us for the pending decisions...!!
  14. Good luck, and I hope you hear some positive news very soon!! Yup, the competition seems to very tough for both admissions and funding, especially since the economies worldwide have only recently begun to recover from the recession. I am counting on funding for furthering my education; it is going to be very hard/impossible otherwise...
  15. Any idea what month/date you received the Clarendon email notification, and was your course in the Humanities field?
  16. Mine still reads, "In Review and has been sent to graduate program for review." Waiting it out...
  17. Hey coffeem8, Great to hear from you. I only applied to one PhD program and all the other Master's since I am just finishing college. I applied to all places with guaranteed funding except for one, and the irony is I got accepted into that one and now have to wait for its funding decision besides waiting on admission/rejection+funding decisions from the ones with guaranteed funding. Also, everyone is going to be sending out decisions at different times, which means that there is very much a possibility I might have to accept an offer by the deadline before hearing from the others; hopefully, all of the decisions should be in by March, but you never know with the waitlists and all...I hope to hear from Ohio State in February since I think that was the time when they started notifying everyone last year. How's your wait coming along? Any positive news yet? I saw you applied to UCLA; housing near the campus is going to be super-duper expensive there!
  18. Hey again, just found you here too! St. Edmund Hall sounds good! How are you liking it? Did you hear about the funding at the same time you heard about the college decision? And if you don't mind me asking, what was the main scholarship you applied for? I'll await your response.
  19. Hey tem11, just curious, did you end up securing funding from Oxford? If so, do you remember how many days/weeks following the admissions decision were you notified of the funding?
  20. Hey raza, I just noticed you had received an offer of acceptance from Oxford last year. How did the funding decision go? When did you receive it (how much time following the admissions notification?), if you applied for any financial support from the university? And what college did you pick? Lol, sorry for all the questions, but their program looks way too awesome with extensive support from the faculties, and I am way too excited!
  21. Congrats on the acceptance, Lilith! Did you apply to one of the combined programs University of Minnesota offers? I noticed their English and Women's Studies Department looked quite good. Did you get the full funding offer at the same time as well?
  22. Hey, did you end up going to Budapest for the program? How are you liking it? Would love to hear some comments!
  23. Hey there, I couldn't help noticing that we have both applied to OSU for fall 2011 (did you apply for their masters or the doctorate?); any news about the decisions from them or from any other school you applied to?
