  1. You may be right Twright, but it's hard to say for sure. I'm (trying) to go straight from undergrad to graduate school, and part of me thinks *I* will be at a disadvantage compared to people like you who have professional experience. From surveying department websites, I think some degree of work experience is the norm rather than the exception. The point is, we don't really know how the committees view these things, so we should probably just take a deep breath and hope for the best. In fact, I remember reading a post on PoliSci Job Rumors a few weeks ago where the Duke graduate director commented on the high quality of applications this year, many of which came from people with JDs.
  2. I haven't heard anything either. Sadly, I think we're going to be waiting until Monday.
  3. Congratulations, at least one of us got in!
  4. Yep, this is spot on.
  5. I know what you mean. Misery does love company.
  6. I just logged in and scrolled all the way down (below the application submitted part) and saw a link saying that my application decision was available.
  7. My Yale decision is up on the website and it's bad news. Good luck to everyone else.
  8. Nope. They're running almost a week behind their normal schedule now...
  9. Congratulations! You're on a roll.
  10. Yeah I haven't heard anything either. What blog is this?
  11. Yeah, I'm starting to think it's an erroneous post. On the other hand, it might be possible that a member of the department's admissions committee personally emailed someone before the official notifications had been sent from the grad school (or something like that). It's hard to say though, because I have no clue how the process actually works at UVA...
  12. Thanks, same goes for you. I've been anxious ever since I saw that on the results page. It's pretty strange if they've contacted one admit and not accepted/rejected anyone else on this board.
  13. Count me as another UVA applicant who has heard nothing...
  14. No word from UVA. I'm guessing we'll hear back Monday/Tuesday or so.
  15. I wholeheartedly agree with this, at least #1. I'm having a party at my place tonight with a "Recession" theme
  16. Okay, why not. ~3.9 GPA, ~1500 GRE/5.5 Writing. I'm an RA for one of my professors, and I've co-authored a short article with that professor that has been accepted at a pretty big journal. I was really disappointed not to hear from UVA this week. It seems like a great school, and given the other places I applied, if I don't get in there, things could get ugly...
  17. I've been lurking here for a while, but I suddenly feel the urge to break my silence (maybe the anxiety is starting to get to me). I'm a senior at a highly ranked liberal arts college and I'm applying to political science PhD programs, with a focus on IR and security. I applied to Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, Cornell, Duke, UVA, and Columbia. I aimed high obviously, but at this point I'm just hoping I get in to one. Good luck to everyone, I'm guessing next week is when most of us will start to hear from a school or two...
