  2. Thank you GringaTica. hmmmm are you costa-rican and a gringa?
  3. Fellow historian - I thought you could apply for a FLAS to take classes elsewhere. You should check that. Also, there are often specialized summer language workshops, so you should keep an eye out for it. A good way of keeping up with potential new fellowships, workshops or intensive language classes is to join the H-net listserv for your specific topic.
  4. If you have received a request for transcripts, forget about hearing anything else until May. I emailed the SSRC-IDRF folks asking about the update we were supposed to receive in February, and they consider the request for transcripts in itself to be a notice of status.
  5. Applied for the February round of the NSF's STS program. I am in a history program. I was wondering if anyone else has applied this year, or won it sometime in the past. if so, what field do you study?
  6. True indeed. Also, just wanted to point out that the rejection letter said there were 1200 applicants, which seems much more than the last few years.
  7. Agreed! Since there is nothing that can be done but wait, I fill my days with absurd amounts of optimism - such as counting how much money would be awarded if I got multiple grants - ha!
  8. Based on what I have read on last year's thread and a few other places, getting a transcript request means getting passed on to the final round. Not everyone that does so will win an award
  9. The SSRC (Social Sciences Research Council) does not require citizenship, and not even permanent residence
  10. I just got an email requesting transcripts today. Based on last year's thread, I am going to assume this is a good sign!
