Can someone link me the rankings NRC for chemistry?

I'm concerned about graduating with six figure debt in such a tough job market. Any recent grads care to share their experience looking for work thus far?
Is the 6 figure debt came from Bachelor's degree + Master's degree / a professional degree? A PhD is suppose to be a free degree.

In this thread,
people say that it is unethical to intentionally apply to a PhD program just to have the intention of dropping out with a free MS. But, let's say a student had good faith with good intentions did try to get a PhD, but dropped out with a free MS due to having difficulties completing the project, would most professors give this type of student a positive letter of recommendation to enter a PhD program at another university assuming the student can prove that he only dropped out due to lack of interest in the project even though he was an overall good researcher?
I know every professor is different, but what is the general consensus on this?

Two is normal in chemistry from what TAs are telling me.

Let's say if a PI had so much leftover funding that there are not enough PhD students in his or her research group and the PI needed more PhD students to be TAs, would they knowingly accept PhD students who have a high risk of dropping out with a MS?

Switch topic areas again?
Not really. I just like to read textbooks in my free time on a wide range or disciplines. Also did you get my PM on inconsistencies in NRC rankings? Like how some programs have an average 4 year graduation rate yet 0% graduated in 6 years or fewer?
-
What measures do PhD programs do to prevent people from cheating them like this? Why not just get rid of the MS consolation prize so that a student either gets the PhD or no PhD?
-
What are the best textbooks used to study for the Biology GRE and the Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology GRE? What textbooks would be best if you had a general interest for areas such as parasitology, marine biology, general ecology, etc.?
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I was looking at the NRC rankings on Phd.org for ecology just for fun and I came across this:
http://graduate-scho...____________U/3
For University of Toledo, how is it possible that the average length to a PhD is 4 years yet 0% of PhD students get their PhD in Ecology at University of Toledo within 6 years or fewer? Is there something I'm missing? I also encountered these inconsistencies for other fields listed.

At Princeton, it costs about $80,000 a year to fund a single graduate student. I can safely say I have never stolen that much.
Why does Princeton spend so much on each graduate student?
-
If you enter a PhD Program and receive funding and you don't finish, do you have to pay back the funding?
-
Some graduate programs even PhD do not have hard cut offs for GPA. Some may admit a person with below 3.00 GPA on contingency even giving you full financial funding without the use of loans because they have excess funding. You just have to work hard to find these programs.

I asked Eigen this, but I guess he was too busy to respond to my VM.
When applying to PhD Chemistry programs, is it wise to also contact the PIs of interest beforehand to see if they are looking to take in students for the following season and have funding and space for more students since it is obviously a waste of time to apply to a PhD Chemistry Program where the research groups you are interested in is full? Is it common for people to spend the summer before the application season emailing professors for this type of information?
Thanks.

You should apply for a PhD program and drop out with an MS so you can get it for free with no debt.

We'd need more info on your research interests.
After spending a lot of time reading ACS Journals and taking more graduate classes, I think I know what I am truly interested in. I am interested in pursuing in pursuing research in organic chemistry where I will investigate mechanistic aspects to understand how organic reactions work. Can someone help me out on which schools to apply that have research specifically on this? Thanks.
