  1. Congrats to all those accepted to University of Washington! I got a rejection this morning.. very disappointed but also determined to get it right. I appreciate all the support everyone on this forum has offered in one way or another, and wish everyone the best going forward!
  2. Rejected. Congratulations to all those who were accepted!
  3. What was your email about? Decision on your application?
  4. LeoBixby: I think I have a good record, barring that Q section of the GRE but so does everyone else here! Its too bad that schools can't offer admissions to every applicant, but that's a discussion for another day. Thank you for all the kind and encouraging responses, everyone. paolaplease: snow days?
  5. LeoBixby: Indeed! For all those who applied to U of Washington, did you have prior contact with a professor? Or interviews? Getting worried, since I applied but didn't reach out to faculty, and haven't heard anything at all!
  6. Any news from U of Washington??
  7. changetheworld: My application was mailed to HSPH on Jan 1. I just turned 31, and I have 3 years of work experience after my MPH (not including 2 fellowships). The program website states that no prior public health experience is necessary. Haven't received an interview yet. Good luck, everyone
  8. So... how does is work with U of W? Haven't heard anything from them, no interview, nothing.. will I just see a status change on the web portal? For candidates who've been accepted in the past, how has the process been?
  9. saving_the_world: thank for sharing! I have an MPH from an okay school, GPA 3.7, a GIS Certificate GPA 4.0, GRE 160V 151Q 4.0A (not thrilled about Q), two fellowships, one at NIH and one with government, two years research experience in health disparities using geospatial methods, two publications and a few other on the way. But, I haven't heard anything yet, so I'm kind of ready to believe it may not happen this year. sante, how about yourself? Can you share a little information on your professional background? Good luck, everyone!
  10. jmu and LeoBixby, I am interested in working with Luke Bergmann and mentioned this is my essay. However, I haven't had any communication with Prof Bergmann himself (at any point). I don't know if that is going to bode well for me! I did contact one professor from another program I applied to, and received a response initially, but nothing since, so I wasn't sure whether it would help to contact Dr. Bergmann. Just really nervous at this point! Any updates so far? Cheers, kay
  11. Good luck, de_neve! I am sure you will hear good news. I still haven't heard anything, so I don't know what that means at this point Anyone else hear anything?
  12. Has anyone else received an interview from Harvard DrPH? Should I just assume the worst, since I haven't heard anything from the program at all!
  13. Thanks for the encouragement everyone! pohks, I applied somewhat based on location, but mostly based on research interests and how well I thought the program may be able to support my interdisciplinary work across public health and geography. geographyrocks, its totally normal to feel the way you are feeling. Having heard nothing so far, I was feeling doomed last week as well, and had a severe case of the existential crises :-) but, you will get over it, and all will be well! just keep your chin up, and remember that acceptance/rejection/phd none of it defines who you are as a person and your impact on this world. YOU do. Good luck!
  14. Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum, and glad to see there are so many critical geography folks out there! I have applied to the University of Washington's PhD in Geography. I have a Master's in Public Health, a GIS Certificate, and a few years experience using GIS to study neighborhood level determinants of disparities in chronic diseases. My interests are global health, health in conflict, and conflict resolution. GPA 3.7, GRE Q151, V160, A4.5. Has anyone heard from U of Washington? Good luck to everyone!
  15. Congratulations de_neve! ANd good luck for your interview! Would you mind sharing your stats? Thanks very much!
