  1. Has anyone applied to do the Science and Technology Studies Specialization at UBC (either through English, History or Philosophy) and heard anything? I know you have to apply to the specific department, but I'm wondering if the STS program has any say, or if it's all the individual department's decision? I saw that there were two acceptances on the results board for English PhD at UBC, but I'm wondering if that includes STS specializations? I haven't heard anything, and I'm getting nervous....
  2. Anybody heard anything yet?
  3. It's great that you got a phone call. I wish they would let us know. I mean, what are the chances that all of the people on this forum (four different people) are near the top of the list? And depending on when people accept of decline, we could be waiting for a while to find out. Boo.
  4. I applied to Cornell Communications department, but then got a call from one of the professors suggesting that he move my application to the STS program. That was at the end of January. I was also in New York looking at another school, and asked about visiting Cornell's campus. The grad secretary told me to wait until decisions were made, which "will be in a few weeks." That was on February 23. Also, when I was talking to the STS professor in January, he said they only had funding for three incoming students. I'm not feeling too hopeful...
  5. Thanks for the advice. I just sent them both (the POI and the graduate director) an email just letting them know that I'm still interested. We'll see what happens next.
  6. After I submitted my application to RPI in December, I emailed my POI to make contact, etc, and received a very positive response with a promise that she'd put a good word in for me. Literally an hour later, I received an email from the graduate director, inviting me to visit the campus in February or early March, so that we could meet and hopefully secure funding. He said he'd look into travel allowances. I emailed him back and said that I would love to come out, and any financial support would be appreciated. I haven't heard anything since. Should I wait for him to get back to me with a formal invitation, dates, funding, etc? Does this mean they've changed their mind (after seeing my application) and don't want me to come out after all? I don't want to bombard him, as they're probably sorting through a ton of applications. Thoughts? Suggestions? Has this happened to anyone else?
  7. Hey, Have you heard anything from Berkeley or Stanford? I applied to those programs, on a whim... and for the risk of sounding nosey, what are your stats? Thanks.
