Why are grad students so miserable at Columbia? Is this across the board or just for Latin America?

In light of this, what do we make of the several people who have already received acceptance letters? And, to those individuals, has your Wolverine Access changed to reflect your offers?

The first round of admits and waitlists were notified two weeks ago. A finalized list might move waitlisted people into the admitted category. But one round of formal notices has certainly been sent out.

I think that somewhere buried in the application was a place to choose notification by post or email. It could be that some of the acceptances are in the snail.

When I went to the PSW, I was told that international students aren't invited. I don't think it's a personal thing, I think it's financial. To compare, Columbia invites international students but they have a reimbursive model, so you'd buy your ticket and then Columbia would pay you back up to $500 (which wouldn't pay for most international flights). NYU, on the other hand, pays for your ticket out-right, so you don't have to go in debt. That just means only domestic flights are eligible.

So, last week I got officially waitlisted at Columbia but the downloadable status form hardly changed. I don't know exactly why it's there. It's no use.

I'm curious about the last line here. It seems to me that all people invited to History Day have been offered travel reimbursement. This post indicates otherwise. Where is the information coming from? By which I mean, people on the waitlist were also invited for History Day and offered reimbursement. I know cause this is my situation.

Most of the columns are still blank. I did notice that my recommendations had been received, which is new from last week.

On a vaguely related note, does anyone know if the Penn invitation is as "sadistic" and indeterminate as the similar NYU event?
