No!!!! It happened to you after an interview. I am so sorry! At least I had reason to doubt it's authenticity since I didn't interview, but if I had... I would be crushed

Well, the more I thought about it on Saturday night, the more skeptical I became for three reasons, the first being that I never interviewed. Another reason is that there was nothing in the envelope beside the letter (no form to mail in with my matriculation fee, etc). The other reason is that I realized the letter mentioned that my acceptance was contingent upon successful completion of my undergraduate degree. Having graduated a few years ago, I knew this did not apply to me. So, after the initial shock of the letter wore off, I had a feeling there had been a mistake, so it came as no surprise when I called them today. However, I do feel bad for anyone who may have declined other offers of admission due to this mistake. I had the letter for 36 hours before I could contact anyone in admissions, so had I believed it, I very well could have responded to my other schools.

So, I called RISD this morning to see what was up with this letter and apparently they sent out a batch of false acceptances! Lol this would only ever happen (and I suppose the few other people who were included in this group).

Ummm, I just opened a letter from RISD, expecting it to be a rejection since I hadn't interviewed, but....I was ACCEPTED!!! My mind is blown right now.

Ha! Rejected from Skowhegan again. Better luck next year.

I applied for Skowhegan this year. Last year there were over 2,000 applicants and my rejection email was addressed "Dear (blank),". I actually forgot that I had even applied until I just read your post!

I was on vacation all week and last night I came home to: -a rejection from MICA Mount Royal -a rejection from MICA Hoffberger -a rejection from SAIC painting departments -an acceptance from SVA Kind of disappointed about the SAIC painting rejection. I walked out of that interview feeling better about it than I ever have any other interview. Oh well, at least I was accepted to their printmedia program.

Were you notified of funding at the same time as notification of admission? I received my admission to printmedia on Monday, but have been on vacation ever since so I don't know what to expect in the mail when I get home

Accepted to CalArts and SAIC for Printmedia, no word on Painting yet.

Don't psyche yourself out....every program is different and one has no bearing on another. Your work is really strong and the fact that they will see the paintings in person at Yale will help I'm sure. Best of luck to you this week!

Very exciting! Congrats on your Tyler acceptance. I haven't heard from them, so I'm guessing that might mean I'm either waitlisted or rejected :-/

I had my CalArts interview yesterday and met some really awesome people in my tour group. Unfortunately, I didn't get to say goodbye because I had to head out to the airport. Are you going to the reception on Saturday night? I am planning on going for at least a little while depending how tired I am. I have a 7am flight home Sunday morning.

I wouldn't worry just yet. I don't think anyone has posted about hearing from RISD. So either they haven't notified of interviews, or absolutely no one on this board has been invited for one (which would be very surprising)

Congrats on PAFA! Philly is a very manageable city. I bet you'll really like it here.

I've been asked and gave an honest answer.

My email came directly from the head of the painting and sculpture. Printmaking may not have made any selections yet.

Just got an email from Tyler stating that i have made the first round in the admissions process and that they will be making final decisions in late-March. Nothing about an interview was mentioned.
