  1. Here's an old topic that talks about it a little: But yeah, I'm also wondering about this...
  2. Hadn't planned on it–my portfolio is all from within the past 10 months anyway. Trying to travel light! Oh, and they said to bring a disc of work so I'm assuming you can add new work to that. Good luck, all!
  3. Congrats! That's super exciting. Just curious–when did you submit your app? Notifications have been so all over the place and I'm wondering if they're rolling admissions. Would have been good to know that in advance, ha. Anyway–congratulations again!
  4. Anyone been notified of their interview time yet? It's already Tuesday...
  5. Ooops–just realized that I repeated this topic! Sorry! Anyway, still interested in everyone's plans.
  6. Anyone else hear from Rutgers? Wondering if they're done notifying accepted applicants or if there's another wave on its way.
  7. Just thought I'd start a new topic for us SMFA interviewees to talk out our concerns/preparations. Big question: are you bringing/shipping physical artwork? The e.mail says it's optional, so I was wondering what everyone plans on doing. People also seem concerned about clothing. I plan on wearing 'nice' causal clothes with newish sneakers. Pretty much what I've worn to two other interviews with no negative consequences. Last thing, these links may help you prepare: http://mfyay.blogspot.com/2009/03/interview-notes-from-professor.html http://mfyay.blogspo...back-again.html Good luck!
  8. lpayne23, When did you hear from Concordia and how (mail versus e.mail)? Still waiting to hear from them myself...
  9. Got an acceptance letter in the mail yesterday. Hadn't heard anything up until that point. Good luck!
  10. Congrats!!! That's wonderful!
  11. Yeah, I think that they'll continue to bombard us with information until all of this is over. Not to be a pessimist or anything, but I wouldn't read too much into it. Anyway, a positive attitude is always helpful and inspiring! Good luck with your applications!
  12. Also have an interview on March 5th. I found this blog with some helpful tips from a current student: http://mfyay.blogspot.com/2009/03/interview-notes-from-professor.html http://mfyay.blogspo...back-again.html
  13. Ah! Thanks for clarifying–good to know! I can see a school not wanting the exact same portfolio repeated, but I can't see why certain pieces can't be used in multiple portfolios if they make sense across media/departments. Anyway, thanks and good luck!
  14. Oh, I totally understand why you'd submit to multiple departments. I was just curious since I had hoped to do the same, but most schools explicitly stated that they required separate and distinct portfolios for each. Just curious...
  15. Did you have three distinct bodies of work? Most schools require separate portfolios for each department you apply to. If so, that's an impressive amount of work!
  16. I agree on all points then! Rankings just have a tendency to be problematic when followed as definitive guide to which school is "best."
  17. If you're applying to school based solely on its ranking, you're probably applying for the wrong reasons. Take rankings with a grain of salt and be sure to do some legitimate research on each school. Just my thoughts.
  18. Thanks so much! Yes, I interviewed over the phone last week and it went really well. Tyler is certainly at the top of my list, but I won't make a decision until I hear back from everywhere (need to see how the financial aid works out too). Congrats and good luck at your MICA interview! I know someone else interviewing for the program too–she's super excited by the prospect of working with Ellen Lupton. Sounds like a great program.
  19. Acceptance letter to Tyler GAID arrived in the mail today-hurrah!
  20. It's hard to say, but since it's one studio arts program versus several departments, I'd imagine they sent all notifications today. But, who really knows. These schools seem a little unorganized at times, ha.
