Yes, that's in Waltham. We're aiming for walking distance of the school.

Is that for a single person with a roommate? I'm looking for an apartment for me and my wife (and obviously no roommates), so certain types of housing are out for us. But I have been finding one-bedroom apartments for a little under $1000/month. Is that about what people are finding?

When I was arranging my visit, they offered to put me up with another student. I didn't accept because I was close to my parents' home, but another prospective student did.

You can get from Logan Airport to Brandeis by taking the Silver Line bus to the regular T system, taking the T to the commuter line, then taking the commuter rail to the Brandeis station in Waltham.
  5. I have no experience with this, but I doubt that you'll get your fee back. I can't see a program giving back an application fee ever, unless maybe they decided not to admit anyone that year. Besides, if you don't hear from them about whether you got in, what makes you think you'll hear from them about getting your money back? :-)

Thankfully my parents live nearby, so I'm probably going to move in June then live with them till I find an apartment. It will be more expensive to be unemployed in Waltham for a couple months, but it seems like the best shot we have to get decent and less-than-frightfully expensive housing.

A log-in is required to get into the Brandeis classifieds, but you can get one even without a Brandeis e-mail. http://my.brandeis.edu/

Congratulations. :-) At least in my case, health care was included in the scholarship/stipend package. Just for me, but the rates for my wife are pretty reasonable.
  10. I just received word back from my final school. That makes two acceptances, and six rejections. I'll be visiting both schools in the next week and a half, and then I'll know what's happening with my life for the first time in seven months. :-) Best of luck to all those who still have some waiting ahead of them.
  11. I've seen at least two people who got tired of waiting and called or e-mailed Notre Dame to ask what their results were. For the ND applicants, does that seem to be the only way to get a decision? :-)
  12. I sympathize, but I don't think it's fair to say that "being waitlisted is bullying." The school is trying to give you as much chance as possible. If you get off the waitlist with funding tomorrow, you won't think the waitlist was such a bad idea. :-) Bullying is when someone takes away your options, not when they give you options.

  14. Wow, responses from two graduate programs in one day. An acceptance and a rejection. After waiting seven months, what are the odds? :-)
  15. Studying in London would be pretty fun, even if it's not funded. And it would probably look great on next year's applications.
