  2. Catherine at GWU said some people should be having their status updated on applyyourself in the next couple of days. She told me that I was waitlisted at the same time so that was no good.
  3. Waitlisted at GWU. I've never been waitlisted before so does anyone know how the whole process works, specifically at GWU. like when do they let us know for sure if we can or can't go?
  4. I havent heard anything yet either. I emailed yesterday and now I'm waiting to hear back. I applied to the PhD program though. I had expected to hear on friday but didnt. some people did, both acceptances and rejections so i m thinking waitlist for me.
  5. where are you looking, they're are definitely people who got rejected. Does anyone know what the average funding from GW is for PhD students?
  6. Very true. I'm trying to remain optimisstic! I did notice however that last year on like march fifth, someone was waitlisted so I'm wondering if that is the path i ll be taking. you're healthy policy right? I'm going for sci and tech so going by fields is very possible. are you still waiting on some schools? are you leaning towards any particular school yet?
  7. Congrats Rutabaga! I'm slightly nervous, my still shows CCAS3.
  8. I think its because the economy is in the tank. When people can't find jobs, the alternative is graduate school
  9. i just stalk down the results from the last couple years to make a good guess as to when I think they'll be sending out a decision. So far its worked pretty well.
  10. Thanks! I'm guessing GWU results will be this Friday so hopefully its not too bad Fridays in a row. I'll actually be visiting another school that day so perhaps I wont get the results until Saturday One good thing about GWU vs RAND, rand guarantees you money whereas GWU doesnt. Financing school isnt a huge issue (company pays for it) so if they dont want to let me in with money, maybe they'll at least offer me admissions where rand couldnt do that
  11. someone was accepted to rand.........i havent gotten an email yet today..........3.5 more hours to go till the weekend begins....
  12. Eeeeekkkk! Emails from RAND go out tomorrow.......I'm preparing for impending rejection....
  13. The same page also lists all the required materials for your application and if they have recieved it. So it'll show all your recommenders and if they have submitted their letters, it show if you application is complete, your test scores, if they've recieved your transcripts and any other additional material you may have been required to submit. So in that respect, it tracks all the documents required for your application (The "CCAS3-Your Applicaiton is under review" is directly above this info).
  14. I only applied to two policy programs, GWU and RAND. My background is in engineering so I also applied to two Aerospace Engineering PhD programs (at colorado and texas as i mentioned above) as kind of a back up in case i dont get into the policy programs. I kind of applied to the engineering ones cause i felt obligated to, being an engineer, but really I want to go the policy route so I'm hoping I get into one of the two. RAND said they'd let us know this friday (eeekkk) and looking at last years results, I think GWU will update the website next friday (or around then sometime). So I guess I dont have to wait in anticipation for too much longer but the closer it gets, the more anxious I get.
  15. Be optimisstic! Which PSc program did you get into? CONGRATS! What Policy schools did you apply to? Any idea from last years results as to when you should be hearing back? Knowing that you can at least go somewhere would be nice......I'm resultless right now although granted I'm working full time right now so if all else fails, I just keep working, but thats not what im looking for. Good luck on the policy results and Duke!
  16. Hey Guys! It seems that most people on here are for MPAs and MPPs so I wanted to start a thread for people applying to PhDs. I know GWU made announcements regarding Master's students but have yet to announce anything for the PhDs. Pardee Rand is supposed to send out emails this Friday. I applied to two other non-policy programs (U. Colorado, U. Texas @ Austin) and nothing on them have come either so I'm 0 for 4 on hearing back. Where is everyone applying and who have you heard from (if from anyone yet)?
  17. my thoughts exactly! Two people posted rejections on the 13th. I just checked my status and it says under review so i m going to take that as a good sign. i hadn't planned on hearing anything for two more weeks.
  18. I selected other. I work in the aerospace industry as an engineer currently.
  19. i did a little looking on this website and and another and it looks like the phds get announced right at the end of february so i guess we still have some time to wait, unfortunately. I'm super nervous, mainly because i dont have a background in policy (engineering) and looking at the statistics on the website, I am several years younger the youngest person accepted last year.
  20. I have a limited econ background too! I took an introductory econ course like someone above (some macro and micro topics covered) and got an A but thats the extent of my experience in econ. I've also never taken statistics. I have however taken 10 college level math classes so I'm thinking not taking statistics wont be an issue (I have a my bachelors and masters in engineering). I think my biggest hurdle will be having the admissions committee understand my sincerity of wanting to do a ph.d. in policy rather than in engineering, hopefully my SOP does a good job doing that.
  21. Any RAND applicants this year who are impatiently waiting for our results a week from friday?
  22. Hey guys! So I noticed in the results and a couple posts above, that the MPP and MPA students applying to GWU got their notifications? I'm applying to the public policy and administration Ph.d and haven't heard anything yet. Does anyone know if they announce the MPP/MPA people first and then move on to evaluate the Ph.d students or should I start worrying about not hearing anything? thanks
