  1. Yes, Georgia Tech interviews are the last weekend of March
  2. @Polar: On the note of Chem.E, I have a friend who got in at UIUC and visited last week for PhD Chem.E
  3. @Polar: Sorry ! I was referring to BME...
  4. @Polar: I got admitted to Purdue around first week of February, was invited to the open-house but never attended.
  5. waiting_it_out: Congratulations !!!! Yes, I am 99.9% sure about going to Gatech I got into the PKU-BME program and am going to stick with it, would be cool if I could do a year in China but lets see otherwise will switch to BME. The two people I am interested in, work at Emory so I am thinking the BME program will be more beneficial for me. What about you?
  6. @Halycon - I think that it includes fees other than those billed for credit hours. Student fees, activity fees, recreation fees, engineering college fee etc. Getting a full tuition waiver takes care of the xyz$/credit hour fee and not the others. That is what was told by a grad student during the interview weekend.
  7. Yes!!! Got in at Georgia Tech/Emory for BME PhD. Had the interview from Sunday-Tuesday and got the email today
  8. Well I have stayed in Fayetteville for the last 4 years and honestly I do not find a ton to do. The best things are hiking, back packing, fishing, hunting, canoeing and out-door stuff. Limited bars/club. Nightlife sucks if you are planning to be here long term. The closest fun city is Dallas which is still 6 hours away. Most of the fun stuff is hanging out watching movies, pot-luck parties, wii game nights, pool and bowling. Flying from XNA sucks since you always have to get a connecting flight hence costs are more. Cost of living is low. Having a car is a must here if you want to get around. It is a good place to start off, I have made the best of friends here and loved undergrad. But I would recommend another city if you are looking for a life outside school.
  9. @Piyush: Congratulations on the interview! As far as I know interviews are pretty important but they only select applicants who are given serious consideration for interviews. I guess just be prepared to tell your research interest, background, why you want to go to WashU and which professors you are interested in. Good luck!
  10. jayhawk3: I don't know about the Boston area but I recently visited UPitt and the average GPA was a 3.8. They said that this year was the most competitive pool. From what I know the Boston schools in general have more applicants so the GPA requirement might be a 3.8. But your research matters a lot, if you have a paper published or something, that is an admit Good luck!
  11. Keeping my fingers crossed for Georgia tech!
  12. I am thinking about going to Boston University. Which place is best to live there? Plus I am going to buy a car the next week, is it preferable to not have a car in Boston? What if the car is from a different state? How about parking at BU and off-campus?
  13. Any thoughts on Boston and Atlanta? I also have an offer at Pittsburgh and I was there over summer and loved the place. Haven't been to Boston or Atlanta yet. Atlanta depends on the admit so right now between BU and Pitt.
  14. I applied to BU for PhD in Biomedical Engineering. I received an admission letter around January end and open house invitation via email in the first week of Jan.
  15. Thanks rbme. That helps. I just wish the profs have openings and are willing to take students!
