And here's a great short video about the grad program at The New York Academy of Art (NYAA)
-
Hello all... I used this forum last year during my application to grad schools. I found it super useful. I am currently attending The New York Academy of Art. (NYAA). It's a figurative art program in painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking. They specialize in anatomy. For those who are interested, I'm blogging about my experience there so others can know what it's like.
Please feel free to follow me at www.takingchancesinkansas.blogspot.com
I also highly recommend visiting the school if you get a chance. The work here is outstanding. Our open houses start on Nov 19, and continue every Saturday. Feel free to ask me any questions.

hello all! I have been accepted to New York Academy of Art and started my MFA program in painting last month. I will be documenting my grad experience on my personal blog if anybody is thinking about applying to NYAA or interested in learning more about what goes on there.

i'm a little late on this, but yes, i was accepted last week.
are you thinking of attending? it's my top choice but im afraid of that debt. ny is expensive already, let alone grad school.
Has anyone heard anything from the New York Academy of Art?

rejected from tyler via snail mail (2/25)

got accepted to PAFA (2/22 via snail mail) and NYAA (2/25 via email)! still waiting to hear from tyler and penndesign.

FYI... i wrote an email to PAFA asking when the notification date for MFA applicants was.. they said letters were sent and postmarked last friday. he said to contact the admissions office if you didnt' receive a letter in the mail by the end of this week. yesterday was president's day, so no mail. good luck everyone!

wow, thank you!!!!
Looking at the last three posters' websites warrants a "marvelous" remark. I'm biased towards pastels and thick brushstrokes . . wonderful. (:
<3 Amandapants' 13 Broken Noses
<3 Angmeich's 7 Times
<3 Baja318's last image in the Mid-2009/2010 section w/ the girl whose face really reflects my exasperated melancholy waiting for graduate acceptances/rejections. 7 Times from Angmeich's fits this too, but a bit more laconically.

wow! i love the pigs!! great mark making,.. weird, i saw some similarities between our work with the broken color.. and then i looked at your resume, ..we both got our undergrad from the same college! (much different timing though)... i'm curious where you're applying to grad school?

beautiful craftsmanship and use of texture!

thanks!! good luck to you as well... and i did a lot of research for schools that seem like a good fit for me, as opposed to just applying to the top ranked ones. it makes me really nervous that i won't get into any of them, and then i have to wait another whole year! ... i guess the good news is i probably saved a lot of money in application fees.
4 schools for me too. I'm a little worried- but pretty sure I found programs that were right for me- Here's to hoping I'm right for them... Good luck Amandapants!

Hello there. This is neat.
I applied to:
NYAA
PAFA
PennDesign
Tyler
Haven't heard anything yet. I'm somewhat regretting only applying to 4 schools when I see the long lists on here. :0

Hello everyone...
I used this forum last fall when I was looking for schools to apply. I found it very helpful to connect to other MFA applicants. I am currently attending the New York Academy of Art for painting MFA. In case you haven't heard about it, I just wanted to post about the program, which is primarily figurative based. See the short video clip:

Also, I am documenting my experience earning an MFA on my blog, in case anyone is interested: www.takingchancesinkansas.blogspot.com
If you have any questions about the program, I'd be happy to help. I recommend visiting the school to see the work.
Good luck everyone!
