How long ago did you find the reviews?

Anyone have news on political science? I'm still waiting...............
-
Just got a response from B. Humes: "You will hear shortly"

Anybody have news on the SBE division? A friend of mine just got an acceptance, so I'm guessing since I didn't hear anything I'm a reject. But I think in other divisions (anthro?) acceptances and rejections rollout together over a longer period.... any information out there on SBE....?

Got a NS email last night for SSA (6:37pm). The board last night and today is oddly quiet for SSA. Maybe they sent out rejections first?
-
Does anyone want to claim the Ivory Coast acceptance or Ethiopia alternate on the spreadsheet? I'm going bonkers after that last SSA update!
-
Fabulous! Thanks so much Secret_Ninja!

Long time lurker, first time poster. I am recommended for SSA and have a question for anybody who might have some ideas. I need to get to my field site early and just booked my ticket for June (I received internal funding from my university). I know Fulbright has special rules about booking flights-- under the very special circumstance that I get good news from Fulbright, do you think they'll have a problem with me already being there?

Actually comparative/IR are Cornell's strengths (Cornell is a great place to study theory, but comparative and IR dominate). Tarrow is emeritus; he doesn't advise anymore.

Questions -- US foreign policy
sweater replied to justanotherperson's topic in Political Science Forum
American foreign policy would only be AP if you were studying it in the context of American domestic politics (i.e. how the electorate/legislature/president/etc. affect the formation of foreign policy). The questions you originally propose are IR questions (how American foreign policy affects/is affected by international politics and international actors. HOWEVER, if you are ACTUALLY interested in American foreign policy vis-a-vis Asia, then that is CP. And yes, if you are going to apply to PhD programs as a comparativist then you need to have a regional area of interest (but not necessarily for IR). Your best bet is to talk to your professors about these issues. The demarcation between these areas of political science were not clear to me until I actually sat down with my adviser and went through them and then did my own research (of course the lines aren't cut and dry and will always blur at the boundaries). I highly encourage you to hold off on grad school until you have a better grasp of the discipline. When you do apply, you should have one or two STRONGLY focused questions that you are interested in... not a whole bunch of half-baked interests. -

I'm in comparative, and know almost nothing about theory Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I will say that the folks at Cornell have been inordinately helpful and if you are interested in the program it probably wouldn't hurt to email a prof that you're interested in. Best of luck! -

The rejection from Columbia was also my last decision! So relieved it's over! Accepted: 3 Rejected: 8 Attending: Cornell Seven of the rejections came before any acceptances and I was convinced it was curtains. So happy it wasn't all in vain! -

For 2010, they have all been rejections for Northwestern; no acceptances. Thus my astonishment... anyone want to claim an admit? -
