  1. Looks like it's gonna be a grad student party out at T&C. I visited last weekend and talked to some students who were at Starbucks. One of them lived there and recommended a shuttle lot parking pass--she said the buses don't run late enough for some of the grad classes that are in the evening, and wasn't a fan of the fact that they only stopped there every half hour.
  2. Oops. I totally e-mailed them today to ask them when on earth we'll be getting our registration information. They sent me an e-mail this morning about which classes I need to enroll in, but no info at all about how to do so! Good to know it'll be coming soon.
  3. I'm visiting T&C for a tour soon. How do you like it? I've read mixed reviews on apartmentratings.com. Do you drive to campus everyday, and, if so, where do you park once you get there? I've heard parking is a nightmare. Also, they say they're pet-friendly...do you know if they have any breed restrictions?
  4. Hi! I'll be attending UIUC, too. Is anybody else starting June 13th?
  5. UIUC! Sent in my acceptance on the first, and now I'm just waiting to hear more from them. They're waiting until after the fifteenth to start sending out more information, I'd suspect. The program starts in June though, so I wish they'd hurry it up!
  6. Also, if any of you guys are interested in autism, I just saw this today. Amazing! 20/20 interviewed a teenage girl with autism and her family. She can't speak and doesn't write, but learned how to type at the age of 11. She's now writing a novel. Incredible! She also has her own blog: http://carlysvoicecom.powweb.com/
  7. Anywho. The semester's winding down, and the fifteenth is in two days! Has everybody decided yet?
  8. Question, when people say "funding" what exactly do they mean? I always thought of funding as grants, scholarships, TA-ships, tuition breaks--anything that's not a loan. But, I emailed a state program to ask them when funding decisions would be available, and they basically said they weren't funding people. I just find it really odd that they wouldn't even need TA's...does funding just refer to "free" money like grants? I'd really like to go there, but with absolutely no financial aid there's no way I'd be able to swing it. I don't really want to e-mail them back to clarify because I don't want to seem like a jerk.
  9. Since other people have been asking about financial aid...has anybody heard from UIUC or Northwestern? My UIUC acceptance said decisions would be made soon (almost three weeks ago now) and NWU didn't even mention aid at all.
  10. Just received a letter yesterday saying they're putting me on the waitlist.
  11. I think regardless of the personal statement, the field is really competitive this year and I'm not sure she'll get in anywhere without at least a 3.0. Where did she apply?
  12. I was accepted but I'm not sure how affordable it will be. Here's what they said in the notice: Decisions regarding departmental financial support for students during academic year 2011-2012 will be made soon. At the current time funding sources are limited. Funding is available on a competitive basis, and some students are funded during subsequent years even if they do not receive support during their first year. Then again, I'm out-of-state, so I'm sure if you're in-state it would be more manageable without fin. aid. but still. Maybe they're doing it alphabetically? I was the first one to post an acceptance/rejection from them and my last name starts with an A. I'm sure you'll hear soon either way!
  13. UIUC is sending out their e-mails! Good luck to everybody who's hoping to get in!
  14. My roommate also only received one email. Her last name is in the s-z range. I also had 4 emails from Penny in 10 minutes, but my last name starts with A...I think the whole thing is probably just the fluke. It doesn't seem like they've separated accepted from rejected in their listserv yet.
  15. I don't think I'd jump to that conclusion yet, by any means. Mine also lists all recipients, and it looks like they're just sorted alphabetically by last name, at least from what it seems like in mine.
