  1. Same here boss; I applied to 8. 0 of which were back up schools, thinking if I'm going overseas for half a decade it may as well be up there. However, uhm, I'm starting to feel like this was a bit silly. What to do for a year...
  2. Just got a postal rejection from Harvard. I'm in the UK so they must have sent it out some time ago (maybe a sign that I was thrown out the window fairly early on?) Sad times, but la la la la la la.
  3. I guess NYU is out. Won't lie, feeling a little heartbroken
  4. To the Yale peeps: did you find out your status from the GSAS page with the giant 'CLICK HERE TO CHECK YOUR STATUS' link that goes back to your app? Did something new magically appear in y our application page to tell you your status?
  5. I'm trying to balance a glimmer of hope with potential for absolute devastation. Here's hoping! Congrats to those who got in, I'm sure you'll do the grad cafe proud!
  6. Well let's hope that's not the case! Replies seem to come out in dribs and drabs. I guess I just have to suck it up and worry about something else for now. Cheers
  7. Definitely definitely take a look at Sussex. IDS is famous in development and they have a great department. Grades will be counted but I think their admissions has a very holistic approach in assessing applicants. Plus it's near Brighton, which is fun
  8. Can I get your advice guys? Do you think it would be completely audacious to send an email inquiry about my status because I would like to make travel plans to visit (I'm overseas) and would like the buffer time? This is re: Princeton in particular (though it's not polsci, some others have been rejected from my program but no acceptances on my exact course yet.) Can I just say, I hate this.
  9. This is such a great story, thanks for sharing. And so true. There are mixed signals within departments, and with such high calibre applications, there' s a lot of luck in play here - maybe someone on the adcomm will get your personal statement stuck in their head and love you - maybe they'll misread you and find you ridiculous. No need to give up hope until they've all come back and you've been rejected across the board. Then I'd give myself a day (read: week) to wallow in self hatred before regrouping and learning from this mess.
  10. On another note, is there any general consensus on roughly what time these emails tend to come out? I'm thinking East Coast am means my window of worry should only start from 2pm GMT and finish up at around 10pm. Oh dear.
  11. Killing me softly, Where do broken hearts go, and for those of feeling particularly wronged, erm, 'Forget You' by Cee-lo Green?
  12. Indeed, I too am a mess - I've worn down the fingerprint on my right index finger from clicking refresh one too many times, I'm drinking way too much caffeine, destroying my bladder and am constantly on edge. They need to tell me for my own health! =)
  13. Hey guys, I'm currently at the LSE finishing up a masters. Let me know if you have any questions, would be more than happy to talk about life in London/at the LSE. All the best.
  14. I haven't heard anything from NYU either. Hi all, I'm new here. Done all my education thus far in the UK. All the PhD apps I made are in the US and under 'International Applicants Notes' all the deadlines were the same for us as they were for domestic applicants. I've heard nothing from my 8 universities so far, but I hope I get something soon (even if it's bad news!) because I am getting dangerously addicted to my blackberry, and I may well get fired soon for being so distracted. Good luck to all! I'm not sure if it's the right place, but would whoever posted the political economy and government from HKS feel up to talking about how they were informed? Good luck to you all. We'll be through the tunnel soon.
