  1. :x I wonder how an unofficial WL differs from an official. Got to give it to the creativity in concocting a new category for App Statuses.Thank god at least I am not on the dreaded Weight list. Oh wait, does that supercede the UWL? This has been going on for way to long; torture-light.
  2. right?> I ain't even sure who I would send an inquiry email to.
  3. I am actually pretty mystified and stupefied. I emailed Jill this morning--let me mention that at least she is on top of her game-- and she emailed me back instantly saying she has not heard any news about my app. I have no clue what this means. At least its still 'in the running,' but from other peoples' reports it does not really make too much sense.
  4. I have a feeling that they are afraid to outright reject some people. I don't even know what to make of her response to you. It makes no sense at all right now. I feel your frustration. I have a feeling a similar response is headed my way, as somebody posted in the results they received acceptance email. Gosh!!!!!!!!!!!! Pic- Congrats on your acceptance and funding. Good luck, and I wish you the best. I hope to see you there too, but as of now it is not looking likely.
  5. I think they are more required to be like this
  6. Anyone hear anything from Rochester English? I know people have posted on the results page that they heard from Visual and Cultural, but anything else? Bump somebody's with me.....?
  7. Hey picc, Thanks for the heads-up. Out of curiosity, where do you live, and did you receive anything about funding? I Apologize for the nosiness, but you know how it is.
  8. An insider. You have your task; our fate lies in your hands. Seek this elusive figure to uncover the truth. Godspeed.
  9. As I mentioned above, she told me that within 2-3 weeks from about last Wednesday. She mentioned finances, so they probably don't know whats up with funding. If you check the results page last year it seemed to be a similar case. They are probably not sure what the cohort size is going to be, but this is just sorta optimistic guessing.
  10. BUMP: Any news on the Purdue front?
  11. It was me :? And the answer is no I didn't get in, and they sent the rejection to my overbearing, hypersensitive parents that called me crying because they thought it was my # 1 choice(they were right), and they had to deliver me the bad news. Although by this time I am so jaded and working on something else that I was barely moved, but there is no way to convince your parents you are not disappointed once they have it in their head you are. But, I didn't actually post on the results page, so mine was anonymous-anonymous. You know what, to heck with Stony Brook, so goshdarn overrated. Who the heck wants to attend a school that resembles a state-prison the size of Rhode Island? I don't even know if that is factually accurate, but it is what I heard. And who wants to go somewhere where they tell your parents stuff, too? Especially when you are 27!! Vech, why are you so sulty about Stony?
  12. CL CST: Anybody get in, and if so would you mine divulging your area of specialty?
  13. According to the results page 6 people have already been accepted by phone. So that means there is 1 spot left. Maybe they will invite us all to some sort of Royal Rumble where we can fight it out in a cage for the last spot.
  14. The secretary just sent me a letter-- per my request--saying that they are still in the review process and no decision has been made. It sounds like your initial assertion about their process lacking all rhyme and reason was right. They are taking their merry time, and I expect to get a rejection on April 24 in the mailbox.
  15. Have we figured out in what form decisions are arriving?
  16. I know from the results page that last year they admitted a couple of people (i think) who were wait-listed for funding.
  17. I too emailed Jill Quirk today inquiring about the timeline for decisions. Her response was slightly vague, "they have not made all assistantship decisions yet, should do so within the next 2-3 weeks. Committee was impressed with my packet...yada yada yada." I am not sure how to take this, but it is better than a rejection. Oh, i got the email around 3:15.
  18. Someone suggested that SOP's should actually be a preliminary dissertation topic proposals, predicting which primary, secondary, and even tertiary texts that one plans to use. I didn't do this, but I have not been accepted yet, and that someone has. I actually read theirs and I felt puke in my mouth. I tried to emulate that template and my thesis chair laughed at me, but who knows. Things change.
  19. I haven't heard anything from Washington either, but if what you say is true I am considering that a good thing. Right? I mean, emails only take 5 seconds whereas snail mail takes a while, especially across the country. I figured that people were just sporadically getting rejected for the past month, but the latest results have resucitated a small amount of my optimism . The phone call thing does sound odd, though.
  20. Bump for what appears to be just another flavor of crapped served in this cockamamie process.(for some at least).
  21. To those that have just posted their acceptances via phone: When did you receive your calls and did you get any other information that might be pertinent to those that have not heard anything yet?
  22. Im with ya O. Although I bet your feeling a little more like Hal right now. It will workout. If it just came easy it wouldn't feel as good.
  23. Nevermind the above considering this is a thread (I myself started) in order to rant. Which means, logically, that only people with the urge to rant would post here. What is happening?
  24. Huuugggge generalization from a relatively small sample size(this thread) buuuuut......Are our numbers dwindling as people's paranoia is assuaged by acceptances and those of us left are the ones lacking in said acceptances? Is so, then this is like reverse survivor? If not, then my poor observational skills would explain why I am left here. But that would be a paradox wouldn't it?
