  1. As do I during the last APA/AIA meeting. But most of them are Asian American. I only know two off the top of my head who are originally from China. I'm just interested in knowing whether there are anyone from my home-country who would do something as borderline insane/disastrous as what I'm currently doing.
  2. I figured no one has heard of a Malaysian Classicist. Oh well, I just gotta suck it up.
  3. You need to change your visa from a visitor visa to a student visa, or else you will not be allowed to study here. I've been in the US since my undergrad days. That's 4 years worth of my Bachelors life. Then I spent a year in Singapore, and now I'm in grad school for my Masters in Classics. I will be applying for my PhD. in the next year. I'm originally from Selangor. I have no intention of ever returning to Malaysia since there I feel no pride there. Plus there is a zero job market for me there. Regardless, I'm still curious if there are any Classicist who left Malaysia and ended up as one. So far I'm the only Malaysian in my field of study. No surprise there, but it's slightly bothersome as I have no one to ask for assistance. All good though, I could play this to my advantage. What is your major?
  4. What sort of religious studies are you interested in? Religions of the Classical world? or Early christianity/Judaic studies? Also I chose 'others' because I plan to work on Women in the Roman world (in as many context as possible).
  5. Hello there, That seems exciting. You're currently in Singapore right now? Are you there for your undergraduate studies? Also applications for a US visa in Singapore is pretty good (I heard it's better than applying in Malaysia, though I've never applied my visa through Malaysia). Will this be the first time you're traveling to the US? If so, your application process will take longer than normal since they have to perform a background search on you. Brings back memories.
  6. Hello there, I am a Malaysian currently pursuing my graduate dreams of becoming a professor of Classics someday. I am curious: are there any Classicist from Malaysia? From what I can tell, there are none, and I may be the only Malaysian Classicist. PROVE ME WRONG thanks!
  7. Salvete, I am a Classics student and the only Malaysian that I've know to be apart of this field of study. Does anyone know any other Classicists who are Malaysians? I'm just curious about this. Valete.
  8. University of Arizona offers TA and RA assistantship if you get into their program. Tufts University would be the desired program for a MA in Classical Archaeology, but they lack funding, you may have to take up loans to go there.
