  1. Did you see someone called and was rejected...... Hope that wasn't you.
  2. No news here either. I'm hoping not too much longer..... I haven't had the chance to do an underwater dig yet, but I've done some CRM work here and I've done a Study season I'm Egypt. I've done a good deal of dives in not so favorable conditions so I'm not worried about the physical side of things. Looking forward to it actually. I'm going to be concentrating mostly on remote sensing and conservation, but hope that I get to dig as much as anyone else.
  3. Yeah my heart skips every time I see a new message in my inbox. It's ridiculous how stressful this whole process is. I knew of some of these programs. I had actually been accepted to Southampton, but declined because I didn't receive any funding. I'd prefer to stay in the states since my girlfriend is here and even though Texas is far it will be easier to visit each other on breaks. The other programs here are East Carolina University through the history department and West Florida, but neither of those were a really good fit for me. I applied last year to West Florida to try and stay close to home, but was declined because of my GRE score.
  4. I know I'm freaking out too. I only applied to TAMU because it's essentially the only program of it's kind. Only thing that makes me nervous about my application is my GRE, I don't do standardized tests well at all. I also bombed the ACT. From what I saw of the few anthro admits in years past though it came via postal service, so I'm hoping that no news just means it's coming the slow way.
  5. Also, did they mention whether they would update AIS or send out emails? Or will it be via snail mail only? I've been checking the website and my emails compulsively for the last couple of weeks. Thanks for all the info already, it does help settle the mind a little bit knowing the decision is finally on it's way. I submitted way early, back in September, so it's been a long wait.
  6. The same. Hopefully I'll be seeing you in the fall.
  7. Ah fantastic news! I've been going crazy waiting for it. I had been contemplating emailing them, but was trying to be patient. Thanks for the info and best of luck hope you get accepted. What's your area of concentration?
  8. I wouldn't worry too much about field experience at this point. A friend of mine didn't get any field work done until the second year of his M.A. Just apply to as many programs as possible that are in your field of Interest. Getting in some departments will vary from year to year based on the number of applicants. For your top pick programs I would also recommend applying to the MA and PHD programs to improve your chances, plus the MA programs will help build up any deficiencies your CV may have. Also with the economy the way it is right now there are exceedingly more applicants for almost every program. It's possible that in a year or so it may look up, I don't think anything is out of reach. Just stick with it and don't give up, wish you all the best.
  9. I know how you feel. I think I may be the only person around this forum that applied to Texas A&M. From what I can tell it looks like the whole of Texas programs are going to send notifications in early to mid March. A&M told me final decisions will be made by the 1st with notifications going out shortly after. Just continuing to play the excruciating waiting game. Hope this helps and good luck!
  10. I have to agree with most everyone else in saying that another degree in Anthropology will be your best choice. Most programs want at least a 3.0 in Anthropology courses and a 1000 combined on the GRE for the minimum acceptance requirements. I will say that I would make sure it's what you really want to do though, Archaeology turns out to be a lot different than most people realize. I have volunteered on several digs where people come out and are very excited to get started, but then after a day or two they don't ever show up again. I would check your states archaeological society website and see if they have anything about volunteer days. Where I'm from we have several every year where anyone can come out and help and get pointers. It's hard work, but if you love it it is more then worth it.
  11. For those interested I contacted Texas A&M and the final decisions will be made March 1 with notifications being sent a week or two after.
  12. I knew of the program at Southampton, but not at York. I was accepted at Southampton, but declined the offer since I had no external sources of funding and didn't get anything from the university. I'll have to keep York in mind if I have to try again next year. Thanks!
  13. Anyone else apply to Texas A&M? I emailed the advisor an updated CV last week and he said they were meeting "relatively soon." I've applied to the MA in Nautical Archaeology.
