  1. I agree. They both have relatively smaller department, but well respective programs.
  2. omg i still havent heard anything from 3 schools. This sucks

  3. SAS Headquarter and Research Triangle totally makes me recommend you UNC (Yes, I am on the waitlist for Penn State, but this has nothing to do with my opinion) There is a professor who does research on machine learning and all collaborative researches with other departments in UNC is amazing.
  4. Haha I should talk to students before I make my decision. Thanks.
  5. That is really sad, because i was seriously considering to go to Rutgers. However, no one wants to have a miserable life. hmm
  6. Congrats rooster34. I am planning to decline the offer from OSU this week and hope you get that offer (I think you mention OSU as the first choice) P.S Does anyone know the stat program in Rutgers?
  7. I just got a mail saying I am admitted to UNC biostatistics. The letter does not mention anything about fundings. I am curious that anybody knows about funding situdation in UNC biostatistics program. If it is no funding offer, I am just wondering it is a good idea to take this no funding offer over my other fellowship offers from Rutgers. Thanks
  8. I also got the e-mail from PSU. I thought I was just on waiting list. Hey, Piwi if you know you are not going there, please decline it for me or someone else so we might have a better chance to get funding. I am pretty sure that Duke or Harvard are a better choice than PSU (I also applied Duke and havent heard anything from them sad)
  9. Finally I got a rejection e-mail from Wisconsin. Website still says "Pending"
  10. So I got admitted to OSU, Rutgers(Unofficially) in statisitcs, Upitt in biostatistics I am still waiting for Washing biostatistics and Wisconsin Statistics (I havent heard anything from them. oh well) Does anyone know about funding in Upitt? The official letter did not mention anything about funding. At least I got in a couple schools so I can have choices now.
  11. It means basically they recommended you to graduate school (which means you are basically admitted) I got an acceptance e-mail a couple days after it said "referred" congrats
  12. Congrats Piwi. I guess you are the one who posted on result page. I have checked Wisconsin website today, and it still says "pending" At least it means i am not rejected yet(!) Anyway, I am kinda sick of checking e-mails 1000 times a day
  13. So I was checking SOPHAS today, and I found out that I was admitted to UT. (It was updated on 2/4/10) I did not get any notifications (I assume I will get something in mail) Anyway, I am pretty happy about this. Did anybody get admitted to UT?
  14. Did anybody hear from Washington Biostatistics? I have seen some rejections on result page. I havent heard anything from them. Maybe I still have some chance.
  15. There is a pretty good topic this year in engineering where all applicants shared info and support throughout the waiting process. I suggest we reiterate this this year with all the guys and dolls applying to the exciting field that is Stat/Biostat. So if you are applying, have applied in the past, have some knowledge of any sort or just want to crack a joke, come post. As a suggestion we could all start saying what schools we are applying to in our first post and even better have it in the signature with the distinction pending, accepted and rejected. Frankly I really liked the operation research topic in engineering section so I just copied all words above from it. I hope this does not offend him/her or something) I'll start the list of school Stat: CMU - reject!!!! Rutgers OSU Wisconsin TAMU Purdue Biostat: UNC Pittsburgh - I saw one person got admitted in result page UWashington - did anybody hear from them? I saw one person got admitted and two people got rejected in result page UT RICE I hope we can share info and suuport each other through this nervous time of waiting
  16. US NEWS only provides top 10 schools, and the latest nrc ranking is from 1995 I am trying to figure out which school Im gonna apply this year, but I want some more info I am interested in Computational Statistics/Non-parametric statistics. Do you have any schools you recommend I should look at? Thx P.S I am also curious about Biostatistics ranking.
  17. I just graduate from a small private college with math degree (gpa 3.92/4.0) and starting masters in a large private college in Statistics. Recently Ive been very interested in Finance / b-schools and I don't have that much business/econ background. My master's program is very intense and theoretic centered, so I don't think i will have that much time to take any other classes. What can I do to prepare myself for finance ph.d after my masters? any advice? Thanks
