  1. OchemE, That sucks. Sorry man. You still got a lot of good schools to choose from though, so you should be happy. For me, it looks like I won't even have a choice, I'm either going to Cornell or not going to grad school this year. From what they told you it sounds like they're sending all their rejections out by snail mail. I don't see why it's so hard to send the rejections by e-mail. I am seriously checking my mail box (my real one) every day hoping for my MIT rejection letter just so I can stop worrying about it. If I were accepted, I imagine they would notify me by e-mail anyways, instead of sending a time critical package via snail mail. If I don't hear anything today, I think I might just call them.
  2. I still haven't heard from MIT. I'm pretty sure I'll get rejected this week though.
  3. noojeans- I posted a profile in that thread just now. I can certainly see my weaknesses. But I'm still surprised they warranted all those rejections...

(expected rejection)
  5. Rejected by Caltech today. Here's my list to date, it's pretty bad: Cornell - Accepted Caltech Rejected Berkeley - Rejected Stanford - Rejected Santa Barbara - Rejected MIT - ??? I'm somewhat surprised because my recommenders, two of them that went to grad school at Caltech, said I had a pretty good chance and would definitely get accepted to half the schools I applied to. Yet, as it seems, I am only going to be accepted to one, and it was the one I added at the last minute just to round out my list. Is this year just rough? Or is my application just bad...
  6. Hey guys, Just got rejected by Berkeley this morning. Found a lovely standard business envelope that probably weighed nothing sitting on my counter. Immediately knew it was a rejection, but had to open it and read "We are sorry..." anyways. Good luck to the rest of you that applied to Berkeley!
  7. I said last week that if I don't hear anything by Friday I am going to go crazy. Well it's Friday. Still waiting on Stanford, Caltech, MIT, and Berkeley. What a quiet week. Next week is probably going to be magic week.
  8. That's great news! I hope to hear from them soon because the anxiety is killing me.
  9. Yes, I am a domestic student. If you haven't heard anything from Cornell I wouldn't worry too much. I wasn't expecting to hear anything so early, and if you haven't received a rejection, they're is still hope. I think they just do the reviews in waves or in priority. I don't really know how it works. I think this coming week we'll all start getting a lot of responses. Lets just hope they are good!
  10. This is a Chem E thread also, but I haven't heard anything from the Chem E's here. Are there any Chem E's here? I've heard from Cornell and Santa Barbara. Was accepted to Cornell, rejected by UCSB (probably because of some very late materials). Still waiting on MIT,Caltech,Stanford,Berkeley, although I know for a fact they have all started to send invites.
