  1. the faculty as a whole is responsible for a lot of the division of money, but it is the selection committee that usually makes the big decisions. So, get in touch with the faculty member that serves as graduate director.
  2. I'd say the key here is also to get (and stay) in touch with the profs in question. At this point all departments are trying to figure out what the different options are (not just who they want, but also who they are likely to get), and the best way to assist them with that is to have them understand where you are at, and what you'd need to accept. Doesn't mean you're going to get that, but it seems to me by doing so you are making their life easier, and thereby increasing your chances.
  3. It seems like this is an ongoing puzzle until it is clear what the cohort exactly looks like, and possibly even beyond that. Getting and staying in touch with them is probably your best shot.
  4. I also havent heard yet. Since all my other acceptances came with a complete funding package right away, I assumed it was indeed a wait-list situation so I've pretty much crossed UConn off the list. If this approach applies to every PhD student they accepted I'm a little confused as to how they think most of our decision making processes work.
  5. Yeah I'm dealing with the same problem. There should be some self-help book for things like this.
  6. I saw a few people on here that haven't heard from the University of Virginia yet. Has anyone been in touch with the department to see if we're waitlist cases or if something else is going on?
  7. same here, not surprising. Are there any UvA admits / rejects in American Politics? I think most responses went out earlier in the week but I havent heard anything yet.
