Ya, the first lady said something about American being the only contracted carrier for that location. I wasn't sure whether she meant Tucson or DC, but maybe it was Tucson.

Well, on my second call in to SATO, I happened to talk to a much nicer lady than on my previous call. She said there was one that gets in at 4:30PM, so looks like I won't be quite so late. >.>

So I just called and apparently they can only book through American Airlines? And the earliest flight that day from Tucson gets in at 5:40PM? And there are no redeyes from Tucson the day before so if I wanted to get there before 4pm I'd have to take a flight at 3PM on April 2nd and get in at midnight................ This seems kind of ridiculous. Delta has a perfectly fine flight that leaves at 6AM and gets in at 3PM on April 3rd.

I found it strange to contact my host regarding housing too, but when I contacted Elena she said we should be contacting them now. No worries though, I just set up mine! =P Also, I'll be in Miyazaki. =)

Thanks, this definitely clears a bit up! Also, your last sentence made me laugh a bit because my NDSEG fellowship funding for this month was actually delayed until February 4th (usually they are precisely on the 1st) "due to matters out of [their] program office's control". x_X

Good to know! I'm just a bit stressed since I did reply to their email accepting their terms but I never got a response email, so I worry they didn't get my email. Of course they probably just don't send confirmation emails, but it would be nice to know that they got it. x_x

Would also love to know when Japan people hear back that they've been completely accepted (rather than the current tentative status)! =D

I also got my tentative offer for Japan! Happy and excited and scared!

I agree that you should check with your university. And ecology/evolutionary studies fall under physical sciences. I'm not sure what "non-model organisms" are though. =P

I was just looking at this as well. It seems like my university offers some program for this, but I've never taken it. They also teach us this stuff for a few weeks in one of our required courses, so I'm thinking of listing that on my resume (even though it's not a certificate). I'm assuming it's like when you apply for a government job and they ask if you have a security clearance - it just makes their job easier if they do, but it's not required and you'll get one after you're accepted. I'd assume it works the same way here, where if we're accepted then we'll be funded by NSF and hence have to take an RCR course.

Thanks, hokievt2010, that's definitely helpful and sounds similar to what I was thinking. I managed to find a copy of last year's application guide. It looks the only two differences between our years are: 1.) our project summary has 3 parts (yours + overview), and 2.) yours doesn't ask if you have any Responsible Conduct of Research training. Anyway, definitely very helpful information! Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, Guattata. Ya, I have three separate sections for the Project Summary as you mentioned. But then there's the Project Description and it has things like Project Synopsis, Timeline, Research Plan, Future Collaboration, Biography, and whatnot. I think I'll be separating these sections (maybe that's what you're supposed to do, but I'm not sure). How long do you think a good Research Plan should be? I feel like maybe around a page would be good...

I'm personally having a hard time deciding how the Research Plan (part of the Project Description) is different than the Project Summary. I feel like my Project Summary covers all of those aspects. \= Any ideas? Also, are you guys making a separate section for each of the bullet points for the Project Description? I feel like it's a bit repetitive...
