Hi again, Finally I received an offer of admission from McMaster ($8,000 Scholarship + $10,244 TA-ship). However, I have to pay full tuition fee (about $15,000) plus health insurance costs for two persons (my wife and I)!!! I thought I would get some sort of tuition waiver. Do you have any idea in this regard? Can I get a tuition waiver or reduction, if not now then perhaps in the 2nd year, 3rd and 4th year? If not, most likely I cannot accept the offer. thanks.

Thanks for the update. Nothing from McMaster! In response to my email they told me that given the University's resources, it does take a little longer to determine levels of support available for international students such as myself. Anyway, congratulation for you. I wish all the best in your future studies at McMaster.

Have you heard anything from Toronto? I am also on the waitlist. What about McMaster, did you accept the offer? Thanks

Hi, have you received your offer from Toronto. I am still waiting for both Toronto and McMaster and I do not know what is happening in these schools. Did you also make a decision?

Many thanks, I contacted with the potential supervisor at McMaster and I received an unclear response: "it's an ongoing process". Fingers crossed!

Thanks, No I am not Canadian, but McMaster and Toronto have great faculty members who work on Islam (Shi'ism). In the case of McMaster, Professor Liyakat Takim has come there from Denver since 2009 and I am really interested in working with him. I hope at least I am being waitlisted for Religion at McMaster.

What is your interest in religion? I am working on Islam and still waiting for McMaster and Toronto. How did you hear from McMaster? I fear I have been rejected there.

I emailed to the Graduate Administrator at the Department for the Study of Religion and this was the response: "We have sent out most of our offers and are just waiting to hear back from one or two before finalizing decisions."

Hi everybody! Hope you get into your dream school this year. I applied to 14 PhD programs this year: Harvard (departments of Near Eastern studies & Middle Eastern studies), Princeton (NES), Duke (Religion), Stanford ®, New York U (Middle Eastern studies), Michigan (NES), Toronto (R & NES), North Carolina Chapel Hill ®, Yale ®, McMaster ®, Pennsylvania ®, Emory ®. So far I have only received two rejection letters from Princeton and Duke without any signal from other schools. I also know that some of them have already released the admitted applicants. March is approaching and I fear of receiving dozens of rejections. Do you have any promising news for me? Can I still have a chance of acceptance without any invitation to an interview or something like that? This year is do or die for me. Thanks, and best wishes for all of you.
