You're most likely in. Rackham mainly does the paperwork and the formal admission process. You should hear from them in a short while. In my case, it was two days after the 'recommendation' for admission. The 'recommendation' letter was pretty much hinting at certain admission, with phrases such as "We appreciate your interest in our program and we are looking forward to having you here for your graduate studies...." Perhaps yours had a similar tone?

I'm guessing it depends on what you wish to do with your degree (Job industry vs Academia), and if your selected school offers you research in your area of interest. Sometimes the 'reputation' of your school doesn't matter... if you are happy with the department (prompt responses to emails by faculty) then that could be a good indicator of how they will treat you as their student. Go with your heart, as I'm guessing you already have. All the best!

Hello nobody2008, Good that you've asked the question before replying to your other choices. I made the mistake of sending rejection emails after formally accepting my offer... I learned that it was a wrong thing to do, since as you well said, anything could go wrong. The best thing you could do is to delay your reply to the other Unis until the day (or hour) of the deadline (some may have it as April 15th), at least when you'll have weighed your options thoroughly.

Hey BG7, Hope things worked out well for you in terms of funding. My experience has that MS students do not easily get funding (unless they apply to direct PhD). Some of the programs I was applying to strongly hinted that PhD students are the priority for their funding. As was1984 indicated, it could be possible to make an impression on the professors, and perhaps get funding for the second year....

Hello newms, Thanks a million for the resourceful tips. Yes, I have come across the off-campus housing, but I was unsure whether it was more expensive than on-campus. Thanks for the clarification. (The housing exploration is quite complicated from a couple '000 miles away) Lemme look them up right now!!! Yep, North Campus is the location to be... I'd appreciate the list of apartments that you got during the visit weekend... Good to hear about the Bus, which makes a place further from North Campus another option.

Hello fellow UMich comrades. It wasn't easy debating and analysing which school to choose. Anyone headed for MSE Aerospace? Any advice on accomodation (on-campus vs. off-campus) pros and cons? PS: I'm an international student, getting used to the new environment may take some time. And yes, i love cold weather!!!!!!!!!
