That was quite weird. They assigned me an advisor and said(he would be guiding me in my research) but said I had to wait 1-2 weeks for my funding package. Huh? Am I an RA? I don't know. I hope so.

The email didn't make a differentiation.

I have no clue. The MIT website says there most students have funding from TAs/RAs/fellowships but they do not make the distinction between masters and Phd.

GPA : 3.89/4.00 GRE: 780 - Q, 590 - V, 4.5 - W Research: Lab Research: only my senior year Other Student projects/contests: every year incl. freshman year. I don't have great stats and I am still in disbelief that I got in, but I am not complaining. I guess my recs were good. Some of the people rejected in EE dept(assuming the user stats posted in the results DB are accurate) were just too good. I don't know what the EE department was looking for, so I had no hope for me. I mean, if someone with 2 publications and a patent would not get in, how did I have a chance? But I am just glad that everything worked out. It's times like these that I feel maybe there is someone looking out for me from above.

I just finished my undergrad, so I had no choice but to apply for Masters. MIT is like Stanford, you need to do a Masters first.

That was me. I just got the email. I got accepted. Oh my god! I almost rear ended somebody while driving because my iPhone buzzed with a new email. Good luck to you guys. I still can't believe it.

Yes. She said the committee was just finishing up this week.
