  1. So does UC Irvine and Penn State I think.
  2. I will be attending Princeton for the joint degree program in sociology and social policy Why? -Social Policy -Very interesting faculty -Students seem happy -Close to NYC -Great package
  3. I have visited and I "clicked" with everybody!!! auuugh. nyu is "ranked" lower than the other two...how much does this matter? it is the most attractive place to live for me but i can't make my decision just based on that.
  4. Which should I choose??????? There are great fits for profs at all, and all are giving me really good funding packages. Help!!!!!
  5. ok, i'm a female. now, what do you guys think i should wear to: a) department's open house cocktail party at a professor's house thanks!
  6. Details: I got a phone call a couple of days ago. 5 yrs tuition covered, health care, and over 20 grand stipend (I have to TA for a couple years). In so far as how far along they are with offers, etc. I know that they have a) accepted some people (via phone) and waitlisted some people (via email). I don't know many more details (cohort size, if they are done with offers, if they have sent out rejections). I hope that helps!
  7. yaaaaaaaaa! i'm in! anyone going to the visiting day?
  8. Does anyone know when Princeton's visiting days are?
  9. Ok, great, thanks. And, congrats!
  10. Yeah, I thought so too, but I also thought they did them by phone...and the person who posted said it was by email...
  11. To the person who got accepted via email today: did you have an interview? I wanna know if I should cross NYU off my list. Thanks!
  12. Oh, great, HBE. I should be receiving those soon then, too. Are you going to go to visit day?
  13. Hi Everybody, I'm going to be going to a couple of department visit days and I am totally unfamiliar with the process so I had a few questions: 1) Where do you stay? 2) Do you bring anything? Other than clothes, obv. 3) Do you go alone? 4) What happens at these things? 5) Do you pay for it (travel, accom.) or does the school? 6) Is there anything you should do to prepare? 7) Maybe this is a good thread to see if anyone is going to visit the same schools? I don't really know how that would be helpful...I guess you could walk up to random people at visit day and say "Hi, are you 'Freaking_out_Sociologist" or "Sparkle1234"?
  14. I got in too...what are people's thoughts on Michigan? Any info greatly appreciated!
