  1. I'm not sure how things go in your field or to the universities where you applied, but some Astronomy/Physics departments notify internationals a few weeks later.
  2. A typical day... Wake up at 7-8. Check admission results on gradcafe and decision status. Check email hoping I wasn't sent the now infamous UCLA midnight email. Take a shower. Check email. Get dressed. Check email and admission results. Go to the canteen for breakfast. Eat in 15 minutes. Go back to my room and check voicemail, email, gradcafe and decision status. Go to class from 9:45 to 11:00. Come back and anxiously check voicemail, email, gradcafe and decision status. Work on my thesis and refresh inbox every 2 minutes. Check decision status and gradcafe every 5-10 minutes. Go for lunch at 12. Eat in 20 min. Come back and anxiously check all of the above. Do some more thesis work, try finishing a paper, check email, gradcafe and decision status every 5 minutes, waste time on Facebook, etc. until 6pm. 6pm. Dinner -- 20 min. Come back and do the ritual -- voicemail, email, gradcafe, decision status. I only applied to UCLA, so 6:30pm where I live is 9:30am there. Update my FB status to "Good morning, L.A.!" Check gradcafe, email and decision status every 2 minutes. Watch House or Dexter in the meantime. Some days go to the gym, worrying I might get an email while away. Then come back, check voicemail, email, gradcafe and admission status. This goes on until 3am (6pm PST), when I go to bed.
  3. I think one can't draw a pattern. What I noticed is that there are three types of schools. 1. The applications first get to someone who has nothing to do with your field of study. This person selects only those applicants who fulfill some conditions, e.g. GRE scores above something, GPA above something, etc. Then, the remaining applications are forwarded to the (actual) admission committee. Those who were rejected for not fulfilling whatever conditions are notified first. 2. The school sends out all decisions at the same time. 3. Accepted students are notified first, so that, for example, they have time to prepare for the orientation week (international students might need to obtain visas), while rejected students are only announced later. Waiting for decisions really stinks though... I haven't heard anything yet either.
  4. I read mine about 100x before submitting it, but never after -- I'm afraid there might be some mistake, in which case I just don't wanna know about it.
  5. I didn't hear anything yet either and everyone tells me I shouldn't worry for another two weeks or so. I only checked my email every 3 minutes today. Yesterday I was doing it every 2 minutes. To how many schools did you apply? I applied only to UCLA, so it's all or nothing.
