  1. You should actually talk to an educator about the state of schools, actual results from charter schools etc...before you publicly post about the state of education....
  2. My situation is a bit different but close enough that I feel I have something to add. After working for many years after completing a BS in Political Science I returned for an MBA a few years ago (accumulating the debt etc..that you would going to law school) and am now going to be starting a PhD in PS in the fall. I am not saying that the MBA is useless (some of my coursework actually helped me to define the course of study I plan to pursue in graduate school) but was a very expensive lesson. What I am trying to say is that you should think about what is going to make you happy in the long run and pursue that course. I have worked in jobs I hated etc..for many years and am finally,in my late 30's, doing what I should have done 10-15 years ago.
  3. My wife is in Columbia right now interviewing for jobs....hope to see you there.
  4. 99.99% sure I will be at Missouri in the Fall. Waiting to see about funding at Wazzu but I don't expect to change my mind.
  5. I received an e-mail this morning...It was from UA, not ASU

    Portland, OR

PSU is right downtown. There are quite a few apartments in the area. The bus/light rail system in PDX is great so you could live almost anywhere and get downtown to school fairly easily. It really depends what you want. I am partial to SE Portland. Lots of older close-in neighborhoods that are a 15-20 minute bus ride to PSU. More residential than downtown with lots of great bars/restaurants. There are also some very nice close-in neighborhoods in NE and North Portland. The westside, which includes downtown is generally more expensive than the east side of the river. If you prefer suburban areas, you can take light rail and be downtown very quickly. Many apartments have been built within walking distance of train stops plus there are parking lots at most of the stops in the burbs. If you are looking at suburban areas I would recommend the west side...Hillsboro or Beaverton.

I live in Portland so may be able to help. Is your question specific to certain apartments or to a part of town?
  9. I received a rejection from Pitt by mail last week. Has anybody heard anything from Arizona?
  10. I applied at UMass last year and heard nothing for a long time. I eventually had to e-mail them about my status.
  11. I just got that too. I guess the really didn't want me. Thanks for rubbing it in guys..
  12. Congratulations to all of the UW admits. I haven't heard anything yet....Unfortunately I think we all know what that means.
  13. They did not specify any fellowship. The e-mail states they are offering a half-time assistantship which includes an 11k stipend plus tuition remission. I am going to call Dana Davis tomorrow for some clarification. Perhaps I will see you there in the fall.
  14. FINALLY....heard some positive news today. In at Missouri w/funding. I was beginning to think I had no hope.
