Rejected from Duke today.

My paper admission to GWU was mailed to me on Feb 3rd. I did not receive a fellowship or Assistantship - they phrased it as such: "Applications for... 2009-010 academic year have been reviewed and i regret to inform you that we are not able to offer you an award." The documents make no mention of scholarships or grants or loans or whatever other form financial aid may take. Two or three days after Jan 28 my applyyourself changed. It now says under Submission Status "CCAS4-A decision on your application has been made." and a new line at the bottom of the page has appeared "Decision Status" which i can click to read an unofficial decision letter.

I'll get back later with the exact wording - but it basically just said that they reviewed my file and determined i wasn't worthy, or whatever, of an assistance ship or aid. The paper did not mention that the university changed its policy with regard to giving out money this year.

I've had a mixture of work experience non profit / public/ campaign / and now private all during my undergrad and in the months since my graduation.

Funding info - yep, of which i received none. I got an email from the Trachtenberg school on - January 28 - saying that i was being recommended to the Columbian school of arts and science for admission. The email was worrisome because it spoke in definite terms yet used the word "recommend." So i called the office and asked them and they said I could celebrate and that I would be "officially" accepted. There's also a very active discussion for admitted MPP/A GW students on google groups. I'll get back to you guys later today on the deadline.... i cant remember :oops:

wow. This set of responses is totally different than those on AutoAdmit where I posted a very similar question.

Was just accepted to GWU's MPP with 3.1 gpa. So don't worry.

I applied to their Milano for Management and Urban Policy as a safety school. I don't think that it is very respected nationally however I read somewhere that it is unique in the sense that it's focused specifically on New York management and policy. Given this, i would assume you might be able to land a nice New York job with this degree. I don't know much about this school though and I'm interested on hearing others' experiences.
