My boyfriend went and visited the open house at CU-Boulder. He just finished up his SPHSC degree last year @UW and is likely to choose CU-Boulder for SLP!! He is still waiting on Northwestern but for all intents and purposes will be going to Colorado . Maybe you guys will be classmates? If he is for sure going, I will pm you with his info. I've been getting the impression more so about the "rankings". I've had students tell me at a variety of different schools that regardless of where you go..everyone has an equal chance in getting a job. Granted I did my undergrad at a so called 'AuD" program so I heard a lot of pride associated with the ranking and how difficult it is to get into the program because of it...so I don't have much exposure otherwise. I do recognize however that the more highly ranked schools are more difficult to get into. What ARE the factors in the rankings? Also, I agree on the more well-rounded part. You can be smart as heck and have perfect GREs and GPAs.....and be a disaster as a clinician. Plus you can't write about having good grades and GREs for your SOP. You can talk about your research and volunteer experiences and that will ALWAYS makes for a better read. Having that experience shows that you've interacted with the populace and show concrete interest in the field.

Oh I meant stats etc, dr. aud. When I say top programs I mean the programs in the top ten. So like Iowa, Vanderbilt, UW, UTD, WashU, Northwestern etc. I got into two of these programs with a 3.3, 1240, two research labs, couple hundred hours volunteering with hearing impaired children and letters of rec from highly regarded faculty members that know me quite well. I don't think I'm a typical accepted applicant because of my grades...I was quite skeptical of my chances during the process.

I'm really curious to know what the profiles are of applicants accepted to top AuD programs... any takers?

No, not yet. They don't do any of that for another month or so. I'm likely to get work study, some financial aid based off what they told me at Financial Aid. We now get to declare as independent so that helps. Plus I'm getting paid next year in the lab I already work in @ the UW. For OOS, it will be expensive the first year but for the following years there are more opportunities to get grants and tuition waivers. UW just doesn't offer it up front. I would email the AuD coordinator at the UW if you have questions about that. She is really great at answering questions.

Instate Student. Someone I know who is a current UCSD student got rejected by SDSU/AuD for AuD...she got into UW and WashU however. And will be attending one of those two in the fall. Its so weird. On another forum, someone who got into Vanderbilt was flat out rejected by SDSU..yet she was an undergrad there. I'm curious to know what they look for...maybe more applicants in general despite it being like ranked outside of the top ten? I know its the only school in CA. Rank doesn't matter especially when it comes to number of applicants...Gallaudet had 150 for 12 spots and UW had like 80 for 12 with both choosing slightly more than 12 so like 16. I think its more location of the school.

Turned down Gallaudet as well. I know there are people on the wait list holding out for the program so hopefully they will get their wish! Its a great program and I would've been very happy there. I got into the UW and UTD and was deciding between those two schools because of my specific research interests. Ultimately chose the UW, its a great program and I'm so excited to be attending there in the fall. Can't go wrong with either sdsu and uw, dr.aud! I've been getting the impression that most people already attending UCSD/SDSU have either been rejected or waitlisted. I know a couple of other people who got into top five schools and didn't get into SDSU/UCSD or were waitlisted...like we are talking Vanderbilt, WashU, UW etc. Is it more difficult for IS students to get into the program or something?

Hi all! I'm going to the UW-Seattle for my AuD in the fall but my boyfriend is deciding between UW-Madison and Colorado-Boulder for SLP. Does anyone have any good insights about the two programs? He's still waiting on Northwestern....what's the deal for that btw? I'm assuming he's waitlisted if he hasn't heard from them (because according to this website its mainly been rejections and acceptances). Any advice is much appreciated!!
