  1. feel like checking this forum will somehow make their decisions come in the mail/email faster? Because I do, even though it's not true
  2. I'm starting to realize the importance of optimism. Until a few days ago, I was driving myself crazy wallowing because I don't have any acceptances yet. Then this week, a lightbulb went off... I still have to hear from 4 schools, and I like to that that's a positive sign
  3. Oh dear... What I really wish, is that schools would skip the welcome weekend invites altogether and just let me - and the rest of us - know either way! Suspense is not good for my soul. Although I do admit that the idea of going to a welcome weekend sounds totally AWESOME... Like an undergrad Orientation Week times a billion. Hee!
  4. This is such a comforting post that I can hardly express my thanks for your existence I LOVE this!!!!!!
  5. No I graduated from UCLA, so I know how awful the UC system is doing lately, especially with $500 million cut from the UCLA budget alone this past month! I do love Berkeley, though, and there is a professor there whom I would love to work with, but I just can't afford it.
  6. Whoops - yes, I noticed there was an art history subforum after I posted this and spent a good deal of time trying to figure out how to move this topic, but didn't seem to be able to I am also hopeful!! Cheers!
  7. Those are all stellar programs I was going to say - it's good you didn't apply to UCLA. I graduated from their art history department (BA) this year, and the faculty are so outraged over the state fee increases that many retired! I was going to apply to Northwestern but I just didn't have the stamina by the time I was done with my other applications. Also - a professor from Columbia told me that Williams is THE singlehanded best MA program for art history in the nation. He was incredibly adamant about it. Good taste!
  8. By chance, was UCLA one of the ones you applied to?
  9. 5 schools! I'm sure you'll get in other places in addition to Pittsburgh! I only applied to 5 schools in the first place - and now that I'm seeing all the schools people apply to on this forum, I'm starting to think I should have applied to like 10 schools Increased chances! Let me know when you hear from your other schools. That's so exciting!!
  10. Is it a bad sign if you don't get an invitation to a recruiting or welcome weekend, especially if you're unsure if programs you've applied to even host such a thing? (And of course, by 'you' I mean 'me', but I'm hoping that there are other 'yous' out there wondering the same thing ) I don't want to be more worried than I already am by this, but I'll probably be exponentially more worried if it is a bad sign. Boo.
  11. Where did you apply, and are you still waiting to hear back?
  12. Thank you so much! I will definitely be posting either way. I'm starting to wonder if decisions get sent out in alphabetical order. My last name starts with an 'S' so if it is in alphabetical order, then my parents were extremely cruel
  13. I'm still waiting to hear from Yale, too (for art history). What's your specialty? I'm also still waiting to hear from Penn and Michigan, and was unofficially told by a professor at Columbia that I was rejected from there... so... Come on Penn, Yale and/or Michigan! Any one of you would be superb.
  14. Agh! I feel the same way. Wish we could drown our sorrows together with some ice cream. *hug*
  15. 3 weeks, wow! At least you got an unofficial acceptance. I would die for that. Hee, hee. I emailed the professor I had an interview with and subtly asked if my department was still reviewing applications. Our interview went extremely well, but that doesn't mean I'm not still worried sick.
  16. I want to hear from Yale I'm in total suspense...
  17. Agh. 10 business days is a long time. I'm starting to feel like I'll NEVER know if I got in anywhere. I applied to 5 schools and have only heard from 1 so far. I have unofficially also been rejected from 1 (but still need the official letter)... so that's 2 rejections, and 3 ___? I'm totally discouraged. This waiting thing isn't working out.
  18. Does anyone else not see an Application Status when they log into Wolverine Access? It's driving me nuts. I noticed that someone posted on the gradcafe's admissions reports section that they were invited via email to a 'Recruit' Weekend, so I would figure that if said invites have gone out, everyone's application statuses would be updated to say something like... completed, or at the department, or something. Am I just not seeing the right link or something?
