  1. Have they? The one on the board looks like it came from art history. Right?
  2. Curious about what's going on with JHU. Scattered acceptances and scattered (mostly via USPS) rejections.
  3. Cool. Thanks for the info. Also, just got the form rejection from Princeton. Oh, well - carry on!
  4. Curious about the Penn interview that was posted. I guess they're continuing to do interviews? They did a big round of Skype interviews a little over a week ago.
  5. And Harvard should be any day now, judging by previous years. I'm ready for news, too.
  6. I had some contact with my POI at Georgetown. He indicated that their decisions would be coming out by the middle of the month. So I'm hoping to hear from them before this week is over.
  7. Okay, that sounded a little whiny. I'm excited and glad to have the interest. Just not sure how to navigate these sorts of things.
  8. Thanks for your thoughts. They are helpful. It strikes me as an unfair situation to put me in. I'm certainly comfortable expressing my interest (because I am interested!). But I, of course, feel that I have more to lose than they do.
  9. I've talked to a couple people about this, but wanted to get some opinions from you all. I got an e-mail today from the DGS at one of my (probably) middle-ranked schools. He told me I was on a short list of applicants that the committee is considering. Great news, right? But he went on to ask me how seriously I was considering this school and if I'm still interested, which I am. And also this: "If admitted to them, would you choose other programs over ours? Which ones?" He assures me this has no bearing on my admissions (which seems strange). I am very interested in the program, but it's not my top choice. So I feel a little awkward about it. What do you make of this?
  10. Okay, I had a Penn interview earlier this week. Under the submission status, it says it was submitted 12/3/12. Under the application status, it says it was completed the during the middle of last month (1/16/13).
  11. Not sure, czesc. I hadn't actually noticed that before. I know that mine has been "submitted" since November or whenever I submitted.
  12. It's hard not to feel a little depressed right now.
  13. Thanks for the information. And condolence to you. There's really no predicting how acceptances and rejections will come out. I'm sure there is some good news that awaits you.
  14. The frustration is palpable! Just noticed a UPenn rejection. I wonder if that's throug the history department or an asian studies dept?
  15. I know what you mean. There was quite a bit of activity for me last week, and really nothing so far this week. I thought it was going to come all at the same time, but I guess it comes it fits and spurts.
  16. Finished my interview with Penn. It was just a couple faculty members. I think it went well, though I felt pretty rattled afterwards because I sort of blanked on the question, "Do you have any questions for us?" I asked a few things about the graduate cohort and how committees work.
  17. Wonderful advice. Thanks so much for sharing. And congratulations on the interview!
  18. Well, that sounds like good news to me.
  19. I forgot to say, Congrats, viggosloof! It's great to know you have a place. I'm kind of freaking out. I just got an e-mail from Harvard from the minority recruitment office asking for information about my native american tribal affiliation. Aside from the basic clerical stuff, does anyone have any idea what I should gather from this about the status of my application?
  20. You're probably right. I was mainly kidding. I imagine the interview will be more personal than anything else. One of my professors considers it a "glorified personality test," which is probably closer to the truth.
  21. Very happy it's February. I'm keeping my eyes open for more news today, but next week should be a game-changer. We're going to get through this! And there's the Skype interview with Penn on Monday... That's basically going to be a Trivial Pursuit game based on US History, right?
