  1. you mean, you got the email this afternoon. I thought they did that last Friday.
  2. At least you got NU. So be happy. Chicago has more fun than Ithaca. LOL. Just curious anyone here get accepted by Cornell?
  3. If you got their official paper offer, I don't think they can take it back anyway. Sue them if they did. LOL
  4. by when will you have to respond to NU's offer?
  5. How about your other 4 schools? Did anyone try Haas OM? I knew several guys got rejection, but I heard nothing from them. Any thoughts?
  6. r u applying strategy management? how's that related to OR? Heard anything from NYU?
  7. From the OR thread last year, Cornell is changing their strategy. They make very attractive offer to the best candidate very early such that they can compete with other best OR programs, like Stanford or MIT, on the best applicants. Then, they might slow the process a little bit. It is not surprised if you receive their offer after April. They did that all the time. Cornell is the heaven for PURE math guys. Stay away from them if you are not that into the PURE math part of OR.
  8. I emailed the H professor today. He told me that they made initial offers to international students. I am not sure, by "made", he means already notify the applicants or just purely made. He is also quite honest, telling me I am VERY unlikely to be admitted. Story closed. Move on to the next one.
  9. To those who hasn't heard from NU, including myself, be ready for either good or bad news. They interviewed some international applicants and also told some shortlisted. So, if you didn't hear from them again, like myself, you are either their top candidates or at the end of their shortlist. But I guess I am in the second situation. Good Luck to others.
  10. Well, emailed him last Friday. He said, "don't worry. We'll let you know when the decisions are made." I felt I was going to be turned town by tone like this. LOL
  11. Is today supposed to be the day that NU IEMS makes their first round decisions about international applicants? Anyone heard anything from them?
  12. any international applicant heard more from Northwestern? a
  13. This year might be earlier, since they make the deadline 2 weeks ahead.
  14. Usually, GaTech notifies the results to ALL applicants at round April 1. Cornell and Columbia will have their first round offers sent out in about two weeks.
  15. so true. those rankings kinda wacky. the rankings consider all branches of IE. But if you focus on OR, the top schools should be among Stanford, GaTech, MIT, Cornell, Princeton, Berkeley and Columbia. I guess 90% top-notch researchers in OR got their PhDs from one of these schools.
  16. Wait to see the result of Stanford. I bet you have a damn good chance. Probably you can cross Michigan off from your list, if you do not have a specific prof you wanna work with. Michigan is no way better than NU IMO. BTW, who does health care or energy OR at NU?
  17. Sweet!!! 7 publications rock! Is NU ur top choice? what's ur interest?
  18. Congratulations to you. Any financial aid from them?
  19. no doubt it's a tough year for everyone. Everywhere is saying the pool this year is exceptionally strong, but the quota is exceptionally small.
  20. thx. one more rejection on the way.
  21. I did that. That's also the reason I post this thread, since they're already behind their habit of last year. thx for your words though.
