Regarding housing options, I would, most likely, choose house sharing with fellow grad students. This is based on general experience.

Usually fresh PhDs, who want to pursue a career in academia, go straight to the assistant professor position. That's simply my observation.

I got interviewed last week. So far that's it from Arizona.
