  1. I don't know about visits... I'm not in the US...
  2. Just accepted UCLA offer of admission. According to a friend of mine there, it looks like things will be done by next week.
  3. Michigan also has the Summer Institute in Survey Research Techniques. http://si.isr.umich.edu/
  4. It's interesting that NRC and US News ranking are highly correlated (yet not identical, of course)
  5. http://www.stat.tamu.edu/~jnewton/nrc_rankings/area39.html I just believe that Chicago and Yale should not be in those positions...
  6. Me too. One application, two rejections. They really don't want me there!
  7. Sorry for the question, but... what does ".5 of an offer" mean?
  8. So, technically, we're not rejected for 2011 class
  9. From Columbia: "You should be receiving a letter regarding your admissions decision from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in the next few weeks." I'm interpreting this as a rejection.

  11. Usually, by end-February, UCLA polisci has already contacted students admitted in the first round.
  12. Five must-read for a political scientist: - The Prince (Machiavelli) - A Preface to Democratic Theory (Dahl) - The Logic of Collective Action (Olson) - Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte (Marx) - Politics (Aristotle) Of course, this list is not field-specific. These five books are, in my opinion, some of the most important ones about politics, in a general sense.
