  1. Anyone hear from SUNY Stonybrook? (Is my mailbox defective? Where are the letters?!)
  2. I appreciate the sentiment, but as I submitted to UNC on Dec 1 and stil have not received news, it smells like rejection. Le sigh...
  3. Snags, when did you hear from UNC? *tugs on his collar nervously*
  4. A question on many minds that perhaps a veteran of applications can answer: Does not hearing from schools by March typically entail rejection?
  5. I'm not positive that UNC has rolling admissions. I'm worried simply because the deadline for financial-aid-seeking applicants was Dec 1. More than two months later, they still haven't replied to my application, which, I feel, does not bode well. Of course, these anxiety-ridden facts are compounded by the feeling that my chances for UNC weren't very strong to begin. Who knows?
  6. Today, I found an acceptance letter in the mail from Lehigh. It's only a back-up school, but a safety net, at least, under this tight-rope act. How's it going out there?
  7. Well, it turns out that the mailbox does not magically produce incoming mail before the truck arrives. Anyone else irrationally checking his or her mail 30 times a day? Any more rumors on acceptances? *cowers*
  8. Hello, All. I, too, am applying out of the English MA (Villanova). What are your priorities and backups?

    On the Road

Does anyone have suggestions for strong mid-level PhD programs? I'm going to apply next semester and the list of good-but-not-impossible-to-get-into PhD I've compiled thus far is as follows: Temple, Lehigh, UDel, and SUNY StonyBrook. Any ideas for further prospects? Bear in mind that I'm looking to stay within the tristate area. Thank you.
  11. Please excuse my mispelling; it's crunch time. Edit: Stony Brook.
  12. Hello all. I'm currently enrolled in the M.A. program at Villanova and considering which doctorate programs I should apply to next semester. Among others, I've considered Stoney Brook, but wonder if anyone could inform me about the PhD program, considering the website's dearth of clarification. Is anyone currently enrolled or applying to the school? Or does anyone have a strong sense of the program's strengths and weaknesses? Does it have funding? My interest is American literature, namely fiction, and Victorian and modern gender studies. A good fit? Much obliged, Pete
