  1. Why don't you talk (email or phone) with the school and explain with them with more detail the courses you have done and the book you used for those courses? Ask them if they would accept an online course, or if you can take it during the first semester as you already had plans for the summer. Show that you are interested in the program and all that, but you want to know if there's an intermediate solution.....
  2. In my case, I have done a lot of math work and emphasized it in the application. Probably they thought you did it long time ago, or it wasn't sufficient, probably you should have made more emphasis on it, I don't know what might have happened. But they thought you were a strong candidate and admitted you (with that condition), compared to other people how might have had the math background they wanted but lacked other things..... If I were you, I wouldn't think too much about it and just take the class in the summer anywhere to comply with it..... you might not be the only one.... Good luck!!
  3. @ Maidinindya2: I think exactly the same as DCA-John, if you want to work in development and education, probably the MPA/ID will be a better fit, and still will open doors in the private sector. @ k.03: unless I have overlooked that detail, my admission letter didn't say that. So, I recommend you write them right away and make sure if you have to take an extra course.....good luck with that!!
  4. I have spoken with a couple of alumni, and their opinion is that it is worth it (of course, it'll always depend on the job you want later)....
  5. Also in for the MPA/ID!! Undergrad GPA: 3.7 GRE (Q): 800 MA in Economics 4 years of work in development I still can't believe it!! Good luck to all of you :-)
  6. Thanks DCA-John!! I know that at this point there is not point worrying about scores, but this is also the time when people start second guessing themselves the most....I do hope they don't care..... Blingem, mine was 3.5, I almost didn't practice before the test and ran out of time in one of the essays. But what matters now is the score, not the "why"...... Well, at this point I just hope we both get in!! Although your other choices are not bad either. Again, good luck!!
  7. Hi, I'm kind of new to this... but as everybody here, the waiting is slowly killing me. My guess is that since next week is spring break, staff might use the extra free time to finalize decisions and (hopefully) send the notification near the end of the week. I'm particularly worried about my AW score in the GRE (although a near perfect writing section in the TOEFL). I have a nice story to tell (as probably much of the people applying) and I think I have the type of background they are looking for, but I'm worried that my score will shut me out of the school. Any insights on this? Also, are some of you applying to the joint Japan/World Bank scholarship? when did you apply?? Thanks!! and good luck everybody!!
  8. did some of you apply for the joint Japan/World Bank scholarship? do you know to how many people they give it to, and when we will hear back from them? Thanks!!! as every body, the waiting is killing me.....
