  1. Much to my surprise, I'm in. Not what expected, given I nearly no quant background at all. I understand it's a very quant based program...
  2. Yea. Whoever is posting stuff from 2008, please don't! The wait is agony/confusing enough . Also, the phone-a-thon: my understanding from friends who applied in the past is that they were told first via email that they were in or out and then called a few days later by a current student. So, the phone call won't be the first you hear from them. Du calme, folks.
  3. By soon, are we talking end of the month or mid-March as we've predicted... I assume she wasn't all details or anything.
  4. I've actually spent a lot of time in the Twin Cities area and it's fantastic. If it weren't so cold, I'd argue it would be as popular as DC, Boston, San Fran. The people really are that nice, too. It's unnerving.
  5. I'm good at asking questions so I had no trouble calling to find out what the deal is at La Follette. Only some people got the aformentioned "February 20th" email because they decided halfway through that sending them out to everyone was too much trouble. Letters - rejections, waitlist and invitations - were sent out a couple days ago via snail mail so it's very possible some of us will hear today. I am praying for an acceptance. It will be the first school I hear from and I don't think I can deal if I get a rejection in the first round.
  6. I called the office today to get some more clarification on whether they would be sending out more admit notices. the woman I spoke with said that they sent out decisions to the first half of the alphabet last Tuesday and that the second half would go out within the week. Sigh of relief; my last name begins with "R."
  7. thanks guys. Am trying to find out whether the 11th was all acceptances (if so, I'm screwed) or it will be a mix throughout the month. As far as I know, no rejections on this site yet and no more acceptance notices either...
  8. I understand some folks got their acceptance emails alst week, but am told by the school that's not the end of it. Anyone hear back?
  9. Hey there, Thanks for offering your advice on Harris. First, a simple question: when did you hear back? Second: what's the average age of student there? I'm slightly older (28). No matter where I end up, I'm hoping that the student body has had some real world experience... Finally, I've applied specifically to the environmental/energy policy track. do you know anyone in that particular program? What has their experience been like? thanks much!
  10. Hello all, Am curious: Does anyone know when/how HKS MPP applicants will hear whether they've been accepted or rejected? I understand current students phoned accepted applicants last year, but was that the first and only notification? Did they send out emails or letters first? Additionally, I'd love to know what type of candidates applied to HKS this year - scores, work experience, etc - and get some feedback on whether I have a shot at getting in. More about me: Flaws: 3.3 GPA, 560 Quant, 650 Verbal (testing not my strong point), took stats in college, but didn't get around to econ because I was a science and history major. I plan to take econ this summer no matter where I end up going. Strengths: attended a top 20 liberal arts school, double major, successful two-year stint working for a respected Washington, DC consulting firm where I was a contractor to the EPA. Made total career change in 2004 to become a journalist. Am now senior reporter covering congressional politics for nationally recognized daily that focuses on congress, the white house and lobbying. Have won writing awards and fellowships. Thoughts? I have no sense of what other type of students have applied to Kennedy. (I've also applied to Georgetown, Harris, La Follette, and Humphrey Schools). Thanks!
