  1. According to a memo from the chair of graduate study of ECE to faculty members, Georgia Tech has wrapped up the Fall admission process on March 23 and you should hear from them soon.
  2. I attended the visit day of U of T on Feb. 12 and 13. They sent a series of acceptances a week later (Feb 16th and 17th). I talked with several faculties there and they told me that there will be three round of acceptances. One was Feb. 16th and 17th, the other on March 9th and 10th and the last one will be around April 1st. They also told me that according the ECE recent decision the RA that a faculty should pay to an international student has increased a lot (because the university doesn't pay the difference between international and domestic tuition any more) and right now an international student costs them 2.5 times a domestic one and therefore the chance for an int. student to get in is very very small. I think the reason for extending the deadline is to receive more domestic applicants and try to somehow compensate for the loss they will undergo by not taking high quality int. applicants.
  3. I have acceptances for PhD from UIUC and Georgia Tech. I'd like to know which one has better reputation? My field of interest is Photonics and Electromagnetics. Please help if you have any ideas about them. Thanks

  5. There are 3 more entries on the result page about receiving acceptance emails on March 1st. It seems that Stanford staffs have been working on Sunday and we should expect a rejection soon .
  6. Somebody has reported an acceptance to the Stanford on March 1st by email! Isn't today a holiday in California? It says "No word of funding" so it cannot be notice from a prof. Is it a fraud?
  7. Here is the email: Your application for admission to the Graduate Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) has received a favorable evaluation from the admissions committee of the Electromagnetics & Acoustics (EA) Track. I am pleased to inform you that I have recommended to the Dean of Graduate Studies that you be admitted into our program for the Fall 2009 semester to pursue graduate studies in the EA Track of ECE. Congratulations! A more detailed letter of notification will be arriving soon by post. You have made a significant decision in choosing to pursue graduate studies, and you can be proud of the hard work you have done to achieve your academic goals. I welcome you into our community of top graduate students and outstanding faculty in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UT-Austin.
