I also just got an offer from Evans, a full tuition award. Looks like my decision just got a little more difficult...

Has anyone heard about funding yet? You'd think they'd have some out by now, seeing as the open house starts tomorrow...

Well, I'm not actually applying to the JSIS graduate program, but I am a current undergraduate in the general Asian Studies track with JSIS. Generally I've found it to be a great experience, and the program is very well connected in the Seattle community. To be honest, I've been most impressed with the SE Asian professors in the department, but the China Studies professors are also excellent and the Chinese language program at UW is not too shabby either. Either way, although UW generally tends to be a little overlooked nationally, its programs in Asian Studies/affairs are generally thought to be some of the best in the nation. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you have about JSIS/UW/Seattle as well.

I got the call as well. I live in Seattle, so I'll let you all know as soon as the packet comes in.

I'm in a similar situation with 50% funding. I talked to a graduate adviser at my undergrad institution today and she said that it can never hurt to ask. However, I'm still curious to hear if anyone has done this and been successful.

I got an email just a couple days after the acceptance letter (last week) letting me know that I was receiving a merit award. No information on formal financial aid, but the award info came pretty quickly. Not sure if this is the same for everyone else.

I got in last Monday. They sent out an email first, and then I got the actual postal letter in the mail yesterday. I also got some funding, which they sent out another email about last Wednesday. Haven't heard anything about other institutional financial aid yet.

Any recent MGPS admits get word of funding or merit awards?

I also was accepted to the LBJ MGPS program about four hours ago. Like Ahab said, I never got an email, but the message changed on my status page and I haven't heard much else beyond that. If you haven't done so recently, go check your status page. Good luck to everyone!
