  1. I just accepted my offer to to UNC's MPA program. The professors were very open and supportive and their research interests were much closer to my background. The really small cohort and the ability to take electives at Duke sealed the deal. The research assistantship also helped things out.
  2. Can you guys help me out?
  3. Have you looked into a program called "Title IV-E"? My girlfriend was accepted into UNC's advanced-standing MSW program and she is shooting for this program to pay for it. Its part of the Social Security Act that pays for Social Work education. You just have to commit to working for a child welfare agency for a certain period of time, usually a year or two. The program varies from state to state, but here is something I found for California. http://socialwelfare.berkeley.edu/AcademicPrograms/IVE.pdf
  4. I would take a look at the University of North Texas' MPA program. It is well ranked and pretty easy to get into, especially with past work experience.
  5. I'm still waiting for my letter/ email. Could you guys who got money show your stats? I'd like to start prepping myself for either a nice surprise or disappointment. GRE V610, Q720, W3.5 GPA 3.76 5 years military including 1 year as a commissioned officer in Texas Other great public admin work experiences through undergrad Thanks
  6. Hey Guys, So let's start figuring things out. I don't have a word on money yet, but I figure it would be nice to get some perspectives. In one corner, we have the University of Texas at Austin's Master of Public Affairs. In the other corner we have the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Master of Public Administration. As far as career aspirations go, I am looking for substantial policy work in emergency management and homeland security. I look forward to working at the federal level, probably for Congress. Thanks
  7. I got in. I got the email at about 10pm eastern. Now the question is UT or UNC MPA.

  9. I got in today with a 3.78 GPA, 1390 GRE, and a pretty kicking resume. He didn't mention anything about money, so I'm hoping I get something in the mail.
