  1. I think every school does it differently. After I was accepted to Wisconsin I had to apply to their ta and pa positions. SAIC is notoriously bad for funding. In the sculpture dept they only give one student per year a free ride. I've started to look into local scholarships through foundations but haven't found a good resource for that yet. good luck - and congrats on getting into SAIC Ceramics!
  2. Hey! How was the rest of your visit at Cranbrook? And damn you for telling me about these forum things, I have spent way too much time on them!
  3. thank you so much!!! It's really nice of you to do that for everyone. Hope you have received a lot of good news!
  4. Hey d14505 - I don't know about UCLA, but its been my understanding that people have been interviewing or admitted at VCU and Columbia. I'm expecting rejections, but I've been expecting them since I sent out my apps. good luck!
  5. hey ck - i just interviewed at cranbrook for sculpture, met Heather McGill and most of the students. it was an amazing experience. Do you have any appts while you're there? I think next week is their Spring Break so it could be kind of quiet.
  6. never mind... their new website format is incredibly misleading. Here's an e-mail I received recently: You are receiving this E-mail in regards to your U.S. News Graduate School Compass subscription. On March 15, 2011, U.S. News will publish the 2012 Best Graduate Schools rankings. Your subscription, purchased last year to our Premium Online Edition, is set to expire on April 8. the sculpture list is the same 2008.
  7. there is a trend of higher ranked institutions getting top tier visiting artists - great contacts. I do wish they would tell us what they are basing their rankings on. faculty prestige? facilities? success of graduates? acceptance rate? I wasn't expecting a lot of changes in sculpture since the last round but some schools moved around a lot. VCU was dethroned, Wisconsin fell from 11 to 21... what does that mean? anything at all? Does this round of rankings take into consideration that Yale apparently lost Jessica Stockholder to the University of Chicago? the ranking system seems as arbitrary as the MFA application process.
  8. they sent out a bunch of rejection e-mails today. If you haven't heard yet maybe you're in good shape.
  9. olive88 - what program did you apply for at Syracuse? I haven't heard anything but people are interviewing...
  10. Oooh - what about Wisconsin at Madison Cranbrook and RISD?
  11. What's going on in the sculpture world? just got back from interviewing at cranbrook and it was amazing. Heading to Wisconsin at Madison in two weeks.
  12. I am joining this conversation prematurely as I only have one acceptance. I've been accepted to the Wisconsin at Madison sculpture program, interviewed with Cranbrook's sculpture department and was wait listed at the University of Illinois at Chicago studio arts. All three are totally different and the thought of making a decision is extremely stressful. I'm trying to figure out how to evaluate facilities, faculty, location, length of program, cost, discourse, community, reputation and prestige. It's tough. i applied to 13 schools and was praying to get into just one.
  13. What's going on in the sculpture world? just got back from interviewing at cranbrook and it was absolutely amazing! Heading to Wisconsin at Madison in two weeks and I can't wait!
  14. I just found about these forums last night from another prospective student at an interview and I am thrilled. This is great. good luck everyone. Here's my list: University of Illinois at Chicago - wait listed Michigan - rejected Wisconsin - accepted Yale - rejected SAIC - rejected Cranbrook - interviewed yesterday VCU RISD Columbia Hunter Tyler - rejected Northwestern Syracuse
