  1. So for those who have been having trouble finding the group on facebook here it is: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_194093960633903&ap=1 I'll add those who have already request soon.
  2. Fulbright Fellows to Europe and surrounding countries surrounding Europe: I have created a facebook group, entitled Traveling Fulbright Fellows: Europe 2011-2012, on the basis of current (2011-2012) European Fulbright Fellows to have a way of staying with or at least contacting other Fulbright Fellows while traveling abroad. There are plenty of sites where people allow people to crash on their couch and in-return they get to crash on other peoples while traveling. Given the uniqueness of the Fulbright, we'll have fellows in just about every country in the world and in most major cities. People in the group will put on a document (on the facebook page) where they will be staying and the best way to contact them. Then when a person would like to travel to their city, they can contact them to see if they are okay with them staying. There will need to be ground rules set-up to avoid any unpleasant situations. This will also be great in case you run into some emergency while traveling, you'll have someone to contact. Current Rules: 1) Only 2011-2012 Fulbright Fellows are allowed to join/use this group 2) I'd like to set-up admins to each country to invite/accept other fellows to their country. 3) You must put your place up for use if you want to join (if you are living in a place like a dorm that won't allow it then post that on the doc and offer to show people around in your city). 4) Send me advice in how to make this a great forum. If you'd like to join, please just send a request to join and your username on the Spreadsheet so I can check to make sure we don't have non-fulbrighter joining (at least to the best of my ability). Update the doc on the facebook page with your info asap after joining because I intend to kick people out by the time the program starts who have not entered in their info. This is suppose to be mutually beneficial for everyone so you must be willing to open your doors or at least your time to traveling Fulbrighters to your city. Again there will be ground rules to make sure nobody is put into an uncomfortable position.
  3. Anyone going to Valencia, Spain for their Fulbright?
  4. Just found out that I got the full grant to Spain! Skipped my last class to check the mail and it turned out to be a great move. I'm in Texas for those still waiting for letters to Spain. Looking forward to meeting people in Madrid in a few months! Best of luck to everyone else!!
  5. Ah okay ignore the above. Why did Spain show so many accepted though...with details of the acceptances and everything?
  6. What was up with the spreadsheet just now? I just saw 1 alternate to Spain jump to 15 accepted to Spain...take it that it was some sort of accident or someone messing with it?
  7. Pineapple Man, who did propose to work with at the CSISP? It's funny that you happened to apply to the same place since I don't think they've ever had a Fulbrighter there before. What kind of work did you purpose to do?
  8. I thought when she said 1-2 weeks last time that she meant 1-2 weeks until Spain made a final decision. This time it sounds like it's on the IIE to send out notifications. I think it'll only be through mail. Last year they screwed up apparently and selected too many Spain people and the IIE told them before notifying applicants leading to an additional 2 weeks. No idea what's the case this time. Someone should plan on emailing her again Monday.
  9. Just emailed Rachel about Spain and she said : "We’re hoping to get letters out in the next 1-2 weeks." ...so this implies to me that the decisions have been made and now they just need to get them ready for mailing
  10. Rachel is the IIE Program Manager for Europe and Eurasia (except Germany). Her info can be found on the Fulbright website. Last estimate she gave was that notifications would be mailed this week or next week. I'll post what she says when she emails me back. To what city are you applying for and what kind of work? I'm applying for a full-grant also in Valencia doing molecular genetics/molecular bio at the CSISP.
  11. Just emailed her. I'll update Spain applicants as soon as I hear back.
  12. Good idea. You going to email Friday or Monday? I think it'll be the toughest when we know it's in the mail/other start posting their results...
  13. Anyone applying for Spain email Rachel this week yet? The old Spain Fulbright site (http://old.fulbright.es/book/view/95) said that the decision will be made before April 1st....
  14. Hey, So I emailed the head of my region (western europe) about whether they received my transcript or not and her response was basically that they will only contact you if they don't receive it by March 1st. So not hearing from them I guess is a good thing. best of luck!
