  1. Anybody heard anything yet about the GSAS dorm housing yet? It says on the website that we should have gotten our assignments by the end of May and I still haven't heard anything. I called them last week and they said I'd get an email by Friday but that never happened.
  2. I sent an e-mail shortly before the midnight on the 15th asking if it was okay if I sent my acceptance on Saturday. It's probably nothing to worry about but it's still freaking me out.
  3. I had a really tough time making my decision on Friday and didn't make it to the post office in time to send my letter. I ended up sending it on Saturday morning by express mail so it should arrive there by Monday. I plan on calling them early Monday morning to make sure it's not a problem but I'm kind of freaking out right now that they won't accept it late. Do you think it will be okay?
  4. So I'm trying to decide between Harvard and Stanford and I'm having such a difficult time. I think that Harvard and Stanford are more or less equally good in my field of study so quality of life at each school and how happy I think I'll be are going to play a huge part in my decision. Anybody know anything about these schools? I definitely prefer the laid back west coast vibe of Stanford and the beautiful weather there. But the thing that really worries me is that Palo Alto seems kind of boring. It doesn't seem like there is much to do there whereas in Cambridge it seems like there are a ton of things to do. Can anybody that knows something about these schools give me some advice?
  5. Can anyone tell me about the quality of life as a grad student at Harvard and Stanford? I've been accepted to the PhD physics programs at both schools and have no idea which one to choose. Since both schools are excellent academically and I don't yet have a specific area I want to specialize in I think I'm mostly going to make my decision based on the quality of life at these schools. For example: do the grad students socialize and work together with each other or do they just do their own thing? Are the other grad students and professors there friendly? Do people there just spend all of their time in the lab or do they have a life outside of physics? Things like that. Anybody know anything about these schools?
