    SAIC interviews

Assuming it was the same as my interview, they asked me some questions about my background, where I'm from where I went to school, then they asked me about some pieces from my portfolio which was projected onto a wall. I think that as long as you can talk coherently about why you made the pieces in your portfolio you will do fine.
  2. Hi Micheal, I was looking at your site and notice you attend saic for sculpture. I was recently accepted there for the ceramics program and was wondering what it was like. I actually went there for a interview w/ painting but had a tight schedule so couldn't check out the sculpture and ceramics dept. What do you think of the school? Do you recommend it?

  3. Mike kelly! Hey, this is Christopher Allman from provo! I saw on your site you were accepted to UCLA? That is very exciting congratulations. I was accepted into Saic which I'm pretty happy about.

  4. Is this mike kelly who once lived in provo utah?
  5. I like your work beth. My girlfriend likes it too. She is bit into crystals these days. They are becoming fairly big lately and sometimes I can be turned off by trends, but you use them very well.
  6. Hey, notice you are from Utah. Where from? I grew up in Utah and lived in provo for several years and slc for a couple, I'm curious if I know you.
  7. I'm 28. I took a long time finishing my bachelors degree, 10 years in fact. While being older than my peers gave me some advantages, I'm really looking forward to studying with people who are around my same age and level of dedication.
  8. I received a VERY swift rejection from calarts, it was one of the first things I heard back from any school, so it is interesting you haven't heard from them yet. Maybe it is a good sign?
  9. Great thread, I had asked in another one if such a one existed, then I found this. Mine is www.christopherallman.com it is still somewhat under construction, but it serves it's purpose.
  10. I had an interview for the painting department at Saic and asked about their stats and this is what I was told. For the painting/drawing mfa they had about 500 applicants of which 80 were invited for interviews and of those about half will be accepted. My girlfriend currently attends the UW in the ceramics dept and she learned that they had a bit over 100 applicants of which they accepted 4 and waitlisted about 25 (one of whom is me)
  11. I was accepted into the Saic ceramics program. Waitlisted for the UW ceramics program and have interviewed with the saic painting program. I wasn't super into the idea of saic when I first applied because I had a bad experience when visiting there years ago, but this time for my interview I had a great time. I'm curious if anyone has been part of the Ceramics program if they could give me some insight? I wanted to check it out when I was there for my interview, but my schedule was so tight i never had the chance. I'm really liking how interdisciplinary the school seems, as that is a big part of my work, but I wonder if anyone has any insights to being a grad student at saic in general and the ceramics program specifically. Also, if i were to get accepted into the painting program, does it make much of a difference which program I were to go through?
  12. Hi, funny to see your other comment wanting to see your website, because I'm curious as well. I noticed all the schools you got into and am curious to see what the portfolio of such a person looks like. My site is www.christopherallman.com

  13. Wow! Amazing package, I'm envious! What does it mean that you are getting a 27k$ fellowship? They give you $27k?
  14. At my interview for the Saic painting program I asked some of the first year mfa students and they told me that the painting program received about 500 applicants of which 80 were interviewed and of those about half will be accepted.
  15. Also, because I found it very interesting and figure people here might as well, I will post the statistics I learn at my Saic painting interview. They said they had around 500 applicants a little over. Of those 80 were interviewed and of those about half will be accepted. I would be interested in hearing if any one knows the stats at other programs.
